In this article Bobby Reid makes this statement about Coach Gundy and racism.

He blames everyone and everything for losing his QB position at OSU except himself.

"(Race) could have been part of it," he said. "I don't want to just toss that around, because I wasn't raised that way -- to always look for that. But with me being black and the other guy (Robinson) being white, it definitely could have been."

Why is this still a story? It should have gone away by now.

i think, at times we on the outside of the recruiting conversations b/w coaches and the actual player, blame not going after someone for one reason or another on the coaching staff....

when really, meeting the person, the competitor, the heart of the athlete in another human being is sometimes much more important than the vert or the 40-time

no one can knock bobb's athletic ability....but i would never want him as a teammate and someone i went to the trenches and trust on a weekly basis

yeah that's it a head coach at a school in a major bcs conf is a racist and benched your sorry arse because of it. It had nothing to do with you sucking it up since you hurt your knee. MAJOR :headslap: to Bobby "the crybaby" Reid hope he takes a few good hits this year.
PS i almost threw-up when I saw the stupid espn story on this kid blames everyone but himself can't make through life pointing fingers

I suppose the thought that nobody including himself had any idea where the ball was going when he threw it had anything to do with his benching.

He was like Nuke Lalouche in Bull Durham...95mph with 18 strikeouts, 18 walks, two hit mascots and a beaned PA announcer in one game.

Well, he may not have been that bad, but he did land a lot of balls in front of receivers' feet and his indecision to tuck and run with the ball was a killer at times.

I was scared of him when he was at his best and glad he played for the cowboys the rest of the time.

Reid has so much physical talent, but seems to be a headcase (and therefore throwing it all away).

He was a running QB all the way. Way back when he was coming out, everybody considered Stephen the best passer and Reid the best runner (with a serious lack of throwing ability). How different would the last 5 years have been if Fran had gotten Reid and OSu had gotten Stephen for their pass happy offense? Don't get me wrong...I know for 100% certain that we got the better end of the deal...but if Fran wanted an option QB and OSU wanted a passer...you have to wonder why Fran and Gundy never arranged a trade ;)

Maybe the coaches did try to make a deal and the players nixed it. ;)

What will his excuse be when he sucks at TSU?

That the pressure of playing so close to home was too much!

Woe is me, Bobby Reid, was on ESPNU again early AM today.

In case you have never seen it:

http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/...ideoId=3343717 (http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?videoId=3343717)

Reid's first game as a Texas Southern Tiger is against Prairie View A&M on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Houston's Reliant Stadium at 7:00 pm.

From the information I have this game is going to be televised on ESPNU.

Now we know why the hype was on again regarding his benching at OSU and the transfer.

TSU v. Grambling on Nov. 20, 2008, is also scheduled on ESPNU.
