Congrats to Duran, Raley, and Loux
Former Texas A&M shortstop Jose Duran and two freshman pitchers have received All-America honors.
Duran, the Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year as a junior, was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-America third team. Duran finished the season with a team-best .372 batting average and added six home runs and 68 RBIs. His 103 hits in 2008 rank third all-time on the A&M single-season chart. The 46th All-American in program history, Duran was selected in the sixth round of the draft by Milwaukee and is currently playing for the Helena Brewers of the Pioneer League.
Freshmen Brooks Raley and Barret Loux were named to the rivals.com Freshman All-America second team.
Raley was A&M's No. 1 starter for most of the season, compiling a 7-2 record and 4.76 ERA in 18 appearances. He threw a team-best 92 2/3 innings on the year. Selected to the All-America squad as a utility player, Raley also batted .259 with nine runs driven in.
Loux made a team-high 16 starts, going 6-2 with a 4.18 ERA. He struck out a team-best 81 batters in 90 1/3 innings.
