BTHO Vegas!! :towel:
On offense, it looks like their weakness in past losses has been the passing game, so we are going to slant ourselves slightly that way, while staying fairly balanced overall. One thing they seem to be fairly good at is rushing the passer and they have a couple of high level DEs. So if I could get anybody with an OT to set their guy to favor pass blocking, it will probably help offset that somewhat. The Guards and Centers can stay favoring run blocking, as we want to take advantage of their weaker interior and also do some outside running as well. WRs and TEs lace up the track shoes again...

Our D-line stuck up the joint today. Gave up a lot of rushing yards. And put no pressure on the QB.

We went ttu in this game...

And when you don't pass well in the game, that is not a good idea

Team as a whole (everyon one of us) played like crap....
We threw the ball 10 more times than them, and our defense gave up close to 100 more yds....
I'll take this one on the chin for the team... I'm the HC... this one is my bad....

Just watched all of their completions. 100% short/mid range, mostly to the TE (they absolutely tore us up with short passes to the TE). Our CB's didn't look too stellar either.

not sure what to make of this game..... in the match-up, they were rated higher than us, but i am not sure why... all if not most of our players are better than theirs. when i saw ZA had 10 tackles, i thought oh crap, he just had a bad day covering receivers. but all but 2 of his tackles were in run support. he had 2 tackles where the receiver he was covering caught the ball and racked up 6 pass deflections, so i am pleased with ZA's defense today. he also was in for 66 plays and his energy is still at 76....
looks like they exploited the middle of the field passing to te's pretty heavily. we need to look at that to make sure that is not a weakness in future games.... on the sacks they had, looks like they blitzed right up the middle and the c/g was not able to pick up the rush.... i would not get too concerned with that. i am concerned that we did not rush the ball more.... we have one of the best o-lines in the league from a blocking stand point, but i am wondering why we were not able to get any pancakes on them with lower level players we were going up against...... maybe the o-line needs to work on more vision or agility....

was there something in the defensive game plan that allowed them to totally exploit the middle of the field by passing heavily to their te's???

wow...just wow...
Cart: 0 tackles (no missed tackles either); one hurry...and NOTHING else...
Blazing had a decent catch (7 yards) and decent run (10.5 yards), but VERY little after that...
They just BEAT us! This one hurts! Worse than Windsor (we actually played them closer).

Where the 2 sacks are concerned, I think the sim was f'd up bad. Both sackers were level 17 guys who went between Wallace and RedAss -- give me a f'n break.

The last several times that we looked at a good team and thought we could stuff the ball down their throat running the ball, we have been stuffed ourselves and couldn't move the ball. Their rush defense is rated much higher than their pass defense and the teams that have beaten them passed alot more than they ran. So we went 60-40 pass/run with a 20 on the autoadjust (which is very similar to what beat Madden and Windy City. I suspect that they gameplanned expecting us to do that and went heavy towards pass defense.
As for the TE, when the TE is getting alot of catches in the middle, it is usually one of a couple of things...the first is slow MLB or SS...the second is bad vision in the MLB and/or SS...the third is MLB or SS playing off of their men in coverage. Every LB and DB we have should be playing "stick like glue" coverage...otherwise we are playing bend don't break defense, because we will get killed on short and medium patterns if we give them space in coverage.

Sometimes when a guy races between two blockers it is because the OL sees a blitzer coming and makes the wrong pickup thinking that the HB or FB will pickup the other guy. Usually the HB/FB is on the other side of the OLman and can't get to the one sneaking through.

I think this team knew something about building players that we don't. On those that I looked at, their scouting reports, with lower level players, looked way better than ours.

BTW...sorry guys...obviously I missed something in the gameplanning on offense too. I will work hard to figure out what it is and fix it. If It looks like there were personnel weaknesses that were exploited, I will try to let people know so they can work on it for the future. Right now, it looks like a team loss and not one that we can or should try to pin on one or a few guys.

No, unfortunatly, the game plan does not allow us to be that specific....
It's the same game plan we've used all of last season & this season... This is the 5th time it hasn't worked...
But it's not against specific levels of competition... Against some of the best teams, the game plan has held them in check... and against lesser opponents, it has also... but every now & then... This crap happens.

So, did we shoot ourselves in the foot by switching offense around for DonaldT?
txags92
06-28-2008, 10:16 PM
No...I look at each team for a weakness and try to see what worked in their previous losses. Most teams don't study themselves to see what worked, so the same things work over and over. Obviously Vegas does some self study, because they were ready for a pass heavy offense.
