blazing's first game as a starter...
I'm predicting 1 TD & >70 yards rushing.
Have we figured out how to keep the DEs rushing the QB more (rather than dropping back in pass coverage)?

I just looked at both depth charts. We win this game!
We are a more talented team & there isn't a coaching staff in the game that out works ours.

I have not heard back from Bort yet... We will be blitzing more, so we will see how that works... If Blitzing More = DE's Dropping back, we "MIGHT" cut back on the blitzes....
If More ZONE = DE's Dropping Back, we "MIGHT" cut back on the ZONE....
Well see how things pan out....

Agree 100%. Their starting RB is a lower level than P-Ville who is our 3rd string RB.

I suspect that playing zone defense and blitzing forces the DE to play the LB flats zone depending on how many receivers are in the pattern. It is probably a read for the DE...if the RB goes wide to his side, he drops back, if not he rushes. Typically the TE in a single TE set gets covered by the SS or MLB, so the DE usually has responsibility for the RBs in the flats on their side. I haven't watched closely enough to see what it does with the 2nd TE in a 2 TE set when the DBs are playing zone.

2 things....
:headslap: for the DE on that play... If our DE's do that... We might need to have a talk on the side line....
also!!!!!!!
:headslap: for that STUPID QB!!!!!!! Who the hell throws across the field into tripple coverage more than 20yds down field????? That is dumber than what the DE did... at least (to an extent) the DE kept the QB from taking off... If one of those DB's get that pick... that's almost a gauranteed TD.

WTF? How is that possible? Did we have a bunch of turnovers or miss all of our FG attempts or something? No way should they have had any chance against us...

That is nuts...we couldn't score even a FG against a defense that average 2 levels below us? Man...we suck!
Pumchavas28

Defense... Ya'll played GREAT... Holding a legit Top 4 Team to only 10 points....
5 Pressures & 1 Sack for us compared to 1 Pressure & 0 Sacks for them....

Until the last drive of the game for us.... We never crossed their 41 yard Line....
The ENTIRE game was played on our side of the field....
The last Drive was when our Offense got in the red-zone but was stopped at the 10yd line.

this is really pissing me off...I've worked on strength & carrying but still the fumbles...
I'll continue to boost these (at the expense of speed, agility, & vision) until the fumbles stop.
I apologize on Blazing's behalf. He's really down about this & can't comment.

Its like the computer just ignored our offensive settings. I had it set to not change the gameplan quickly, yet it looks like we never even tried to go with our game plan. We were supposed to run 60 pass 40, yet we did exactly the opposite. We were supposed to go 60+% to the WRs, yet 5 of the top 7 receivers were TEs or HBs. I may have to turn off the auto adjust on the game plan, because that is ridiculous. If we would have just kept running, no way could their front 7 have held us to that low a rushing yardage. And no way should we have had single digit pancakes against a DL that was 2-3 levels below our entire OL including our backups.

That INT we threw in the 4th quarter hurt... It set up their game clinching FG...
Our Last drive where we got inside their 10yd Line, could have been for the Tie & Over Time...

I now believe 100% that our Defense is LEGIT! I had some doubts from time to ime last year, but, I am starting to become a firm believer in our defense & the abilities of the group as a whole.
Score 17 or 21 points for us & we will handle the rest! :gig::cool:

I will have to look at the replay when I get home and see what went wrong on offense. We were scoring 15+ routinely on really good defenses at the end of last season, and these guys were way below us. I was fully expecting a 10+ pt victory. No way did I ever expect that we would get shutout.

P-ville gets top performer and didn't even have that good of a game. Just shows how bad our offense was. :(

Turn off auto adjust will stop the program from screwing with your game plan.

Yeah, I knew that, but I don't want to completely lose the ability to adjust if the opponent is leaving something wide open. In the scrimmages, I used an auto adjust of 20, whereas I think I had it on 40 or 45 for this game. 40-45 is still low and it shouldn't have given up on the run so quickly, especially since they didn't take the lead until the 2nd half. I may go back to setting it at 20 so it doesn't change anything unless things get really out of whack.

This next team we are facing looks like they are a season away from even being close to being on our level...
Lets try out that 20 setting... and we will do the rest of our settings as though we were preparing for Windsor & do our thing.
I think we know how to game plan.. We know our team inside & out... I think once we get a handle on that 1 particular setting, we will be straight & should be able to really rev things up.
txags92
06-13-2008, 02:59 PM
Part of the problem was I couldn't find a way to look at last year's game replays to see what other teams had success doing against Windsor. I now suspect that they stack the middle of the box and play deep with the corners. I remember watching their LBs last season and they were really fast, so I think they rely on those guys to keep outside running games in check and to hold TE and HB routes to small gains. I had assumed that the difference in levels on the lines would allow us to just push them around, but apparently not. Next time, we will definately try something a little different.
Pumchavas28
06-13-2008, 03:08 PM
But that's just it... The CPU didn't even allow our D'Line the chance to push them around...
It takes more than 1 drive to determine if it's working or not...
I like the game plan you had for Windsor... JMO... the CPU screwed it up changing it up so quickly.
txags92
06-13-2008, 03:30 PM
I won't know for sure until I get home and can watch the replays. I know in games past, when we went with a run heavy plan, the CPU wouldn't start going pass heavy until we fell behind or if we averaged less than about 1 yd per carry. In this case, even if it started going pass heavy at the beginning of the 2nd half, it still should have wound up at 50/50. If I get home and see that we started going pass heavy after 1-2 series, I am going to be pissed..

Hard to focus on the positive after a loss like that, but I must say that my boy Thump had a good debut for his first game with the Legion.
6 tackles, 1 Int, 1 PD.

Another postive (but not about any of my guys). Our depth chart CB's did a hell of a job.
FC's man was thrown to only 3 times. He allowed only 1 catch and had 2 PD's.
Sprott was undeniably the CB of the game. Sprott's man was thrown to 4 times. 3 attempts to his side were answered with PD's. A 4th attempt was answered by an interception.
