We have 1 final Scrimmage left & then 2 to 4 days after that game before Season 3 starts...

Here are my thoughts....

We wont do the position battles....

But every 4th game.... If someone who is not starting, is out-performing a starter, we will give that player the option of moving up the depth chart.

Reason being, if that player feels being at a lower spot on the depth chart benifits them more (example: King Gill at WR) then that player can stay put. If they want to move up because of production... then they would have earned their way up the roster.

1 thing though.... Some Positions have 2 starters... so if your #2, it's the same as being #1. (This is more for CB & WR, both positions always have the #1 & #2 out on the field at all times except for WR in Goal Line Offense)

At FB we'll continue to rotate them. Simply because they are our most Even Position on the team as far as performance goes. JMO.

The rest of the team is getting to where the FB's are... but we are not there as a whole.. and eventually when we are there.. We are gonna be something serious! :gig:

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

All sounds good to me. Like you said...leave King Gill where he is...it seemed to work well this year!

I knew there was another example of it... I had forgotten who it was...

What would be funny is if around Game 8 or so... Everyone starts fighting to be a BACK-UP instead of Starter... LOL....

No You Start!!!!
No You Start!!!!
No You Start!!!!
No You Start!!!!
No You Start!!!!

The hidden secret is that the backup generally spends more time against the other team's backups. So you get more mismatches. That is why backups often get the idea that they are better than the starter at a given position...while ignoring that the starter has a tougher matchup. In our case, since we are alternating almost on a play by play basis, the difference isn't as pronounced. Back when the starters were in for the first series or two before the backups got to play, the backups got to face the other team's backups on a more consistent basis.

I was actually referring to King Gill. He has been a backup for most of the season but leads the team in catches and yards. Don't be so quick to get defensive. I am well aware of how valuable BL is to the line. I moved him up to 2nd at both tackle spots (he had been 3rd at RT) a few games ago because after all the talk about speed a while back, Ed Libid still has a speed of 10. I am considering changing the substitution #s at Tackle to limit his # of plays because being that slow is a SERIOUS weakness in pass blocking.

I assumed he was kidding...the 2nd half of my post was just information I thought he might be interested in...but if he wasn't kidding, I will bump all his guys up to starter to punish them!
