3 Of those Awards were tough to figure out....
Heart
12th Man
Most Improved
Most Improved was the hardest one of all... So many guys stepped up this season & REALLY played great compared to last season...

I thought Pug would have one of those locked in (1 pancake in season 1, 48 in season 2) -- but can't argue with your choices on these.
Of course, I think you have rocks in your brain on the best CB call.;)

he got it just right... 5 int's in the regular season and one in the playoff game and as pum said, ZAK ATTAK was thrown at fewer times than any other cb on the team... opposing teams were just scared to throw his way....:gig:

you could say the same thing for most of the OL.... other than BL, most of the OL had very few pancakes in season 1... we were still trying to figure out how to build the OLmen in the first season and we all did really well in season 2....
LARD ASS only had 4 pancakes in season 1 and had 58 in season 2.
cody wallace had 0 and 38.

I agree here.... :D
IMHO..
FC's 27 PD's,
Dix' 37 PD's & 66 tackles (at least half were not the guy he was covering but somebody else)
& Carp's 2 sacks & 30 PD's blew Zak's 5 INT's & 22 PD's out of the water.
Further, I don't think you can support the statement that his side was went to the least. As for sacks, I can't remember a play where Dix rushed the passer.
Then there's productivity vs playing time. During the regular season, total plays per CB were:
Carpenter: 809
Zak: 781
Dix: 714
FC: 624
Zak is no slouch, but come ON....

I'm just having fun with it (really... all smiles). If we can't have a little debate about this I'd say that we're getting way to sensitive about a freaking video game.

Look at all of Jerrod's numbers....everything went WAY up!
Which is why he won Most Impoved....
The O'Line as a whole could have won Most Improved also, but in their own ways, they were beasts last year also...
JM wasn't really tested until this season... We never saw what he was capable of & he went from limited opportunities to close to 50/50 & aside from 1 or 2 bad games, he stepped up.

You act as if having rocks for brains and making the right choice for the award are mutually exclusive options. It is entirely possible that they have made the right choice but they still have rocks for brains...
zrf2002
05-30-2008, 11:47 AM
i agree jm was the most improved player..... he started with little playing time, went through some growing pains, but came on really strong the last few games and probably won a game or two for us at the end of the season with his improved passing completion percentage and td's..... :rep: for dustin.

The THREE new Awards will be....

Terrell Owens Award = Lead The Team In Drops
Cart McCoy Award = Lead The Team In Turnovers (Fumbles & Int's combined) I better not see anyone act injured after a turnover.;)
Sloppy 2nds = Led Team In Missed Tackles (No one likes Sloppy 2nds, but this player couldn't seal the deal the 1st time out so someone else had to finish things up)

Is that fumbles or fumbles lost?
Fumbles....
I guess I should have been more specific...
Was gonna do Fumbles Lost only, but fumbling the ball in itself usually is just as bad because we wind up punting shortly after when that happens... They kill drives so many times...

Updated Info for Season 3.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/team_pic.pl?team_id=229
San Antonio Legion Of Doom
Record: 12-4-0 (4th place)
Top Performer (was a Top Performer More Than Anyone Else)
(K) Terry Venetoulios (Lv. 22) Named Top Performer 9 Times:gig:
Most Improved
(K) Terry Venetoulios (Lv. 22) The last 2 seasons, TV had been pretty much hit or miss, but this season, TV was Key in LOD's 12-4 record winning several Defensive battles for LOD booming kicks left & right from 50+ yds. :gig:
Heart Award (Played Above His Players LEVEL)
(SS) Agnlaw Thump (Lv. 19) Played far above his Level considering he was surrounded in a Defense full of 20+ Lvl Players. Was in the Top 10 in Tackles (56 Total ONLY 3 Misses) & followed that up with 1 Hurry, 2 INT's & 1 Fumble Recovery. :gig:
Best WR/TE (Combined the 2 Awards)
(WR) Shawn Clark (Lv. 22) Led All WR's & TE's in Receptions & YD's & TD's. All that depsite not being the go to WR until Week 5 or 6. :gig:
Best RB/FB
(HB) Iam Gravy (Lv. 24) (2nd Time Winning) Led all RB's & FB's in Carries, Yards, Yards per Game & was tied for 2nd in TD's despite being 3rd on the HB Depth Chart. :gig:
Bloody Knuckles (Best OL)
(G) LARD ASS (Lv. 24)
Led All O'Linemen with 79 Pancakes in the Regular Season. Was key in the running game & pulling out to lead the way for the HB's & helping keep our QB's uniforms nice & clean. :gig:
Best DL
(DE) Cart Hunter (Lv. 23) Led all D'Linemen in Tackles with 33, was 3rd in Hurries with 15, was tied for 1st in Sacks with 4 & had 4 PD's & 1 Forced Fumble. :gig:
The Hit Man (Best LB)
(LB) Rock Goodag (Lv. 24) 2nd Among LBers with 63 Regular Season Tackles, had 10 Hurries, 3 Sacks, 8 Pass Deflection, 4 Forced Fumbles, 2 Fumble Recoveries & 1 Safety. :gig:
Best CB
This one was tough... Probably the toughest one to decide. In the end, I went with the one who made the least number of mistakes... Was the only way I could break it down.
(CB) Fighting Chicken (Lvl. 23) Was tied for 1st in INT's with 6. 2nd on the Team in Tackles with only 4 Missed Tackles, 36 PDs, 2 Forced Fumbles. :gig:
Again, this one was INCREADIBLY CLOSE.. You have no idea... I could make a case for all 5 of em... But FC had the fewest number of MIssed Tackles & that was the deciding factor considering his number of tackles.
Head Hunter (Best S)
(SS) Domingo Bryant (Lv. 22) Led all Ss In Tackles, along with 21 PDs, 2 Int, 2 Forced Fumble, & 2 Fumble Recoveries.:gig:
Best K/P
K Hardin Long (http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=41251) (Lv. 20) Tied for 2nd in the League in Avg Yards per Punt hooking up our Defense all year long with enough room to do our jobs.:gig:
Best Special Teams Player
(K) Terry Venetoulios (Lv. 22)By Far, had the best Special Teams Performance of anyone on the Team. :gig:
12th Man Award (Did Not Start, But was the best Back-Up on the team)
(HB) Iam Gravy (Lv. 24) Despite being placed 3rd on the HB depth chart... Did not complain & still performed at a Level comparable to some of the starters in the League. Clearly Out-Performed his position on the Depth Chart. :gig:
Terrell Owens Award (Lead The Team In Drops)
King Gill, Python & Saddle all Led the team in Dropped Passes.with 6.;)
Cart McCoy Award = Lead The Team In Turnovers
(QB) Tee Dee (Lvl 23) Lead the team with 17 Turnovers. But on a brighter note, was not in the Top 10 in the Conference & was significantly better than most of the higher praised QB's in the league in not turning over the ball.
Sloppy 2nds = Led Team In Missed Tackles
(CB) G Sprott (Lvl 21) = Lead the Team with 7 Missed Tackles... Not bad considering it's a 16 game season. But someone's gotta win this Award.

Personally, I think watching the teams improvement from Season 1 to Season 3 & watching the growth of our players through these awards & comparing their stats & why they won, is pretty cool/interesting.
Especially since, while I am doing them, I don't take into account anything BUT the current season. :)
The awards I get the biggest kick out of Judging are the one's that cover the WHOLE team... Those are the best because I get to pick from so much & it's cool looking through the roster & seeing who is standing out on a team full Top Shelf Talent!!! :)

You know your team is getting better when it gets harder to pick the best player. We are finally starting to get a rep for tough D in the conference and I think we opened some eyes beating Milwaukee in the playoffs and coming so close to beating Baltimore. Next season, we need for the offense to take the next step and become part of the elite. A big part of that will be limiting turnovers and scoring more TDs than FGs. I will miss seeing TV as a top performer, but i would rather see a WR or RB get that one next year.
Congrats to all the award winners and the whole team on a great season!
