From looking at the standings, it looks as if we are locked at the 7 spot with a chance at a rematch with Oklahoma City. The 4-6 teams are at 10-5 but we lost to all of them and the 8 and 9 teams can't jump us because of their tie.

If I am not mistaken, we are only the 2nd team all season to gain 100+ yards on them, and only the third team team all season to hold them to less than 200 yards passing. I saw those as the two keys to the game, and it looks like our secondary really came through against a team with a really good passing offense. My game ball goes to the secondary!

Wait! I just noticed that the game went to overtime! Their kicker missed a 44.5 yard FG attempt and then we turned around and drove down an completed a 41 yarder to win the game. I had no idea they were doing overtime now. Nice forced fumble by Dat Nikka at the end of regulation to take away their chance to win the game on the final drive!

That <200 yds passing is even more impressive considering it was over nearly 5 quarters of play instead of 4.

2ndary played their @$$es off!!!!!!! :gig:
Wasn't so much INT's or PD's because both weren't all that high in Numbers.. But I think the coverage was awesome..
If you look at their WR'ing stats... 3 of their Top 4 WR'ing players were 2 TE & 1 RB.... Normally when that is the case, those positions are not going to OUT RUN our DB's & still have to deal with our LB's...
When WR's are dominating the Catches for our Opponents, then it becomes a 1 on 1 battle with their WR against our DB & sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, but for the most part when everyone is there to help everyone else & force the other team's QB to throw more to the TE & RB than the WR, things will go our way...

Still not fast enough (against the #1 receiver)! But he did level up & I invested in speed (now at 56.84).

I had the only missed tackle (Vly Rock), but it was after running all the way across the field on a sweep. My guy has great vision and speed. He either just took a bad angle or got juked. Either way, my guy flies to the ball....
No missed tackled on passes though.

No Worries Vly.... I'll gladly take 1 Missed Tackle a game for the whole team over the usual 5 to 6... :gig:

Did we really go 5 Wide on that play?????? :wow: :gig:

On that 5 Wide play... Their defense looked COMPLETLY lost & they had no idea what to do on that play....
Their MLB looked like he wasn't sure if he should blitz or cover the slot WR, then he decided to cover the WR, the FS was blown by our WR, the SS blew his coverage...

Helluva throw on that play too...put it right where the CB couldn't touch it. I would love to see their energy levels after that game. They only have 4 CBs on the roster and only 1 FS.

Their roster isn't that deep despite what their record shows...
I don't know for sure, but I would like to think that our depth REALLY helped out alot....
That could be why we were able to throw for more yards than they were... That Extra CB & FS we have that they don't could very well have been the difference.... :gig:

I am kinda wondering if that is why several of our receivers were blowing by their CBs towards the end of the game and in overtime.

I really don't want to jump the gun... But I think our plan of having an "Immortal" type of roster where the back-ups are just as good as the starters & give everyone playing time as close to 50/50 as we can get it, could very well be starting to pay off!!!!! :gig:
We are not elite YET, but other than 1 serious beat down, we have been within 7 points in most losses & could have very easily won 4 of our 6 losses & be at the Top of the Conference...
While at times we have been hard on ourselves for this loss or that loss or this minor thing or that minor thing... Overall as a team, it's hard to say we are not headed in the RIGHT DIRECTION!!!!!! :gig::gig::gig:

I would rather be hard on ourselves after each loss (in a constructive way) as it helps us figure out what to work on before the next game. I don't like seeing people point the figure at one person or another as "the reason we lost", but the self examination looking for the weak spots on our team has led to improvements in alot of areas. I don't think it is any coincidence at all that 2 games after we had a near meltdown about why our secondary was giving up so many yards, we held one of the best passing offenses in the league to below 200 yards in 4.5 quarters of play. Everybody who had a secondary player went back and looked at their settings and at their abilities and the DC went back and looked at how we were playing defense against passing teams. I know I even went back and looked at how my LB was playing defense and made changes to help against the pass. In the end, the discussion after a couple of losses made us a better defensive team.

Agreed..... Hopefully we can continue to improve like that.
