Brandon Verzal works for the A&M Athletic Department and his 14 month old girl (Alexis Verzal) is being treated for severe brain and head trauma. Authorities believe it's the result of being shaken or thrown. They had trusted the care of her to a recommended baby sitter -- they're not the ones accused of doing this. You can read the story here:

Coach G (Soccer Coach) has set up his foundation (which has no overhead) to donate the entire year's fundraising to go towards Alexis' care. If you're looking for a charity to support or need to make a donation (they will mail you a donation receipt for tax purposes), then I ask you consider donating to this cause. You can read about it on Coach G's website here:

You can send your contribution for Alexis to the Coach G Foundation today, knowing that every penny raised will go to paying the medical bills of Alexis. Make checks payable to the "Coach G Foundation" and please be sure to include your return address in the envelope so that we can send you a charitable contribution receipt for your tax records.

I'm sure every little bit counts. If monetary donations aren't possible, I'm sure the family would appreciate prayers.

I don't think there's much you could do to keep me calm in that situation.... that's horrible

I firmly believe this is why the "temporary insanity" plea has been "invented"...

I would lose my mind if that happened...and not real sure how I would react...unbelievable...

prayers for the family & GREAT to hear that Aggies everywhere are stepping up to help the family. :gig:

In school, we had things that were drilled into our heads, because they were considered extremely important. Things like "stop drop and roll" or "just say no" are implanted in the brain of almost every American kid. Why not add "never shake a baby" to that category? It's amazing how many young people act like they had no clue shaking a baby would kill it.

Prayers to that family in what has to be a more difficult time than anything most of us have ever experienced.

that is pretty much drilled into the heads of every prospective parent (pediatrician, ob/gyn, and at the hospital...I think we left with no less than four pamphlets with "don't EVER shake a baby" as the title)...I would assume the same for child care providers...
