He de-committed while the whole Fran-Gate was going on & because he knew Fran wasn't going to coach A&M this coming season, he liked Fran & that is why he was so high on A&M to begin with.... he still had A&M listed as his #1 school all the way up to last week....

Fran's tenure ended last November.... Sherman took over shortly after the Alamo Bowl... at worst case he's had 3 1/2 to 4 months to get the kid to re-committ considering the kid still had A&M at #1....

You don't want to blame Sherm... fine... but you can't blame this on Fran either.... This kid was the #1 Safety & was REALLY high on A&M....

He didn't even like OU, tu, or L$U... To let Clemson come in & swoop in to get this kid is not good no matter how it's painted....:sad:

Nope... his top 4 up until this week was A&M, Clemson, ND & Ole Miss.....

Those were the only schools who he wound up still having contact with coaches....

Van Malone for A&M
Billy Napier for Clemson
James Shibest for Ole Miss
Mike Haywood for Notre Dame

About 10 or 11 other schools offered him, but he had cut off contact with their coaching staffs a while ago.

Also... just wanted to point out that Ole Miss wasn't a major playor for this kid until AFTER their coaching change also.....

Which happened right around the same time as ours.....

While I agree, this could very well be far from over..... Ole Miss & ND (as I would hope A&M also) are far from done recruiting this kid....

According to that interview w/ Bright (the SC safety prospect) he still thinks highly of Malone, so maybe there's still a chance. Hopefully the coaches can get him on campus some to check out gameday, etc.

Considering he has other teams like USC, L$U, tu, OU, & other teams willing to dish out the cash.... errrrrr benifits..... I don't know know what CL can offer that they can't....

My brother said he had A&M his number #1 on the Maroon and WHite report and Looch is shocked. I love Sherman but he hasn't showed me he knows how to recruit yet. This hurts because he a early enrolle and dosn't give us much time to change his mind.

Has Loston signed yet?

It is a long way from Houston to Clemson. I am sure he would like his family and friends to watch him play. I believe College Station is just a bit closer than Clemson. Plus if family and friends cannot get tickets, Texas A&M will be on TV in Houston many more times than Clemson .

This is a Fran-Gate loss. The Inside Connection pushed this young man away. But, from what I hear Clemson may have a little Bowden-Gate going on.

With the Aggies playing tough and aggressive football this fall, Mr. Loston can still end up at Aggieland.

How stupid are HS kids these days? The kid in the pic below is a 4 Star O-lineman that committed to Clemson over UNC. He put this pic on his myspace page (it was taken down very quickly, but lots of people still saw it). He is in the back of a car, in a Clemson orange shirt, holding $20K in 20's fresh from the bank. Hmmmm.....Not too many HS seniors carry around $20K in cash too often.

Several people on texags say they saw him at the Miami game sporting a custom TAMU jersey with #9 and Loston on the back. Don't know if that means he is leaning back to us but it can't hurt recruiting for other guys to see a high profile recruit sporting our jersey.

Didn't know that Loston is the cousin of the #4 recruit in the nation, who is committed to L$U.

The five-star phenom is quickly gaining recognition around the country as LSU’s primary recruit. He’s even helping to land other high-profile athletes including his cousin, five-star safety prospect Craig Loston.

“[Loston] is big up on LSU,” Shepard said. “We’ll get [Loston], and I’m pretty sure on that.”

Shepard said he keeps in close contact with several of the prospects LSU is recruiting, calling them every Friday or Saturday.

He mentioned he recently spoke with Jamarkus McFarland, Rivals.com’s third-ranked prospect in the nation. The five-star defensive tackle is expected to choose from among LSU, Texas and Oklahoma.

“I talked to Jamarkus right before I went up to LSU,” Shepard said. “I was going to bring him up there with me. But Jamarkus had a game that Saturday, so that’s why I didn’t bring him.”

A lot of these kids befriend each other at all-star games and such. Yes, it is legal for them to call each other.

Even if it wasn't, I'm not sure how the NCAA would control a bunch of HS kids.

They are all friends by the time they really get into the recruiting process. They have been going to the same camps since their Sophomore years and keep in touch regularly.

Me, my dad and a bunch of his hedge fund buddies got into this discussion after the Miami game. It really isnt that hard and L$U has been doing it for ever. Get a high profile kid to go out and buy a decent cell phone, nice clothes, shoes or sporting equipment. Have him make an account on EBAY and give that user name to your big money alumni that do that type of thing. And let the bidding WARS begin. They dont go wild but bid high enough that the kid gets a good amount of money. He takes part off that and then goes and buys something new...repeat process. How you gonna trace that. People bid up things everyday on Ebay.

Please don't do this guys. Don't even talk about it. If winning means cheating, I don't want to win. The aggie code of honor means more to me than a football game, and being an aggie means more to me than whether we win or lose. I don't want to have to be ashamed to wear my aggie gear around in public because some of you knuckleheads decided to go out and pay players to come here. I am never ashamed to wear it when we lose, because being an aggie is about more than that. But if some dumbass goes out and gets busted trying to pay players, we will get our asses nailed to the wall by the NCAA and the national media, and it WILL reflect on the school, its alumni, and on each of us personally.

Think about what you may be tarnishing before you decide to do something like this ok?
