Tellus has been given his new #....

Numbers Game
Cowboys equipment manager Mike McCord is already figuring out the jersey situation for his new players.

McCord said top pick Felix Jones will be wearing No. 28, the number vacated by Tyson Thompson. At Arkansas, Jones wore No. 25, which is used by safety Pat Watkins.

Cornerback Mike Jenkins will wear the No. 31 recently worn by safety Roy Williams, who is moving to 38. And tight end Martellus Bennett will wear No. 80.

Cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones is expected to wear No. 21 in honor of his friend Deion Sanders. Jones wore No. 32 in his two seasons with the Titans.

Well... Another Former Aggie Rod Harris who played for Dallas wore #80 back in 1990.

The Great Tony Hill wore #80 & he was one of Dallas' best WR's....

After them only Alvin Harper would be the only other player worth mentioning...

Yup..... Maybe a lil closer to when the season starts (just to make sure that # sticks)...

Sometimes players change their minds at the last second.... or they work out a deal among themselves for another number that another player might have.

The same went for Bennett, who was somewhat underutilized in Texas A&M's run-oriented offense.

Phillips said one of the most enjoyable parts of the day was hearing Bennett accept the phone call from Jerry Jones.

"You could tell he was jumping up and down and he was yelling, 'It's Jerry Jones. It's Jerry Jones,'" Phillips recalled. "Then you could hear people in the background yelling, too."

But the Cowboys were probably doing some cheering of their own when they were able to land Bennett.

In fact, Jerry Jones said he was trying to trade higher into the second round, with the possibility of taking a receiver, or even Bennett.

Bennett, a former basketball player at Texas A&M who is arguably the best overall athlete among the tight ends in the draft, could add another dimension to the offense, especially down the field.

By trading away Anthony Fasano, who was sent to Miami along with Akin Ayodele for a fourth-round pick on Friday, the Cowboys were looking for some help at the position and believe they have found it in Bennett. "We didn't draft Bennett to be a backup tight end," Jones said. "We wanted to add a dimension to the offense."

Man.... I'm already getting pumped about Tellus playing for Dallas.... :gig:
