I was just looking at the players we've got commitments from and I know it's still early, but i sure hope we sign a few linebackers, and some good one that can come in and help immediately, b/c it kind of seems like we are gonna be thin at that position.

Besides all the stats, anybody seen this demaurier thompson play? Is he a stud in the making or is he gonna need a little time?

ESPN says
DeMaurier Thompson Grade: 6.9
OLB | (6'2" 180)

Evaluation: Thompson is one of the better run supporting safeties in this class and even fits as an extra nickel linebacker. He is very lean at this stage and will get bigger and stronger, but he plays very physical and bigger than his size would indicate. You love his motor and passion, he is at his best versus the run and will probably project as a strong safety when he bulks up. He is a pretty physical guy that likes to play with toughness vs. the run and he really tries to intimidate receivers coming over the middle. He is a big hitter and loves to attack from his safety position. He is a very good Blitzer and comes off the edge hard, can redirect and adjust on the fly. Shows good closing speed off the edge and has good straight line speed. He is a good open field tackler, breaks down in space and wraps up. It is very hard to evaluate his coverage skills as he is not asked to do much at the high school level. He acts as an extra linebacker on most downs. However, he does have a nice burst to the ball, can change directions well, and appears to have the range to become an excellent zone coverage player. Has the quickness to match up with most backs and tight ends in coverage, but could get out muscled at this time. How he pans out in coverage remains to be seen, but if you put him in the right situation and let him attack vs. the run, intimidate receivers over the middle and play zone defensive schemes, he will be a very effective guy.

ESPN sucks for regional recruiting....we are in on two LBs..big name guys & Thompson is one of them, but don't trust anything you read on ESPN in regards to recruiting in the South.

Shoot i don't believe anything i hear from any of the analysts. I just spent a few minutes looking at stuff on rivals, and it looks like we are in on some OLB from Dallas that is the #3 OLB in the country according to Rivals at this moment. I think his name is Michael Morgan. I don't know, b/c they have Thompson listed as a DB and Pierre Flourinor listed as a LB. They also have us recieving a verbal from some guy in California that of course they don't even have ranked. It looks like they are determined this year to make sure the sips have the #1 class in the country. Every prospect they have seems to be either a 5 or 4 star. But what else should we expect from Rivals.

I subscirbe to most of the recruiting sites. From experience, Liucci's is the best & Rivals is reliable. And yes, we are in on Morgan & he is that good.

We are also in on some other OLB. I don't feel like going back to the rivals site, but he is ranked pretty high at OLB too

Actually Rivals and Insiders are pretty crappy, I trust Scout's Inc alot more.

Liucci is the best, but i only subscribe one month a year February

Rivals gives you stuff that Liucci doesn't. Personal interviews, national recruiting, etc. Plus the guys around there know there stuff. The problem is, is that the site is run by a bunch of t-shirt sips & they leave heavily towards the dark side. Subscribing to Liucci & Rivals is the best combo you can have. I've tried 'em all. :D
