LB recruit who we had our #1 target committed to blow u. Sherman has blown off alot of other in state LBer's for this guy thinking we had him but it back fired. So now it's not looking good for us since we have basicly blown off guys like Chris Williams and such

I hate the fact that we put all the eggs in one basket for 1 LB...
I understand doing that for a QB, maybe a RB.... But a position like LB where you have to bring in more than 1 guy in every year is just dumb.
:headslap:
Who the hell singles out 1 LB in recruiting & ignores the rest.....
Especially when LB isn't even your deepest position...
Might as well Single Out 1 O'Lineman and ignore the other 4 O"linemen spots... Might as well only bring in 1 WR, or 1 CB....
:headslap:
I could care less about the kid picking OU... shyt happens... you role with the punches & either steal him back or bring in someone else who in your eyes is close to being just as good...
But to single out one player in a position in need of depth is just completely DUMB!

Sherman has not really shown any love to in state LB other than Wort. He has blown off guys like Chris Williams and such to offer guys out of state. Reel in guys in your own State first and I agree don't put all your eggs in one basket either, when you got other guys in the State of Texas who are good too.

I think one of the big problems was the evaluation period on some of these LB. By the time we were done evaluating Allen, Mahoney and Wort it was to late. We were just playing catch-up with teams like ou, lsu and the sips. That is why I think he put all his eggs in one basket because from what I have heard there is a big drop off between those 3 and the rest of the instate guys.

Sherman is using some questionable tactics right now in recruiting.... And this is just a dumb move...
A&M might not be the #1 Team on Every Kids Mind.... But A&M is well known in Texas & it just strikes me as odd, that Sherman would want to bring back Traditions, get the students involved, and then at the one position that screams WRECKING CREW, he goes out of state to fill it up...
WTF...
LB's made the Wrecking Crew what it was with their bone jarring hits... And he goes out of state for that... WTF....

Be that as it may.... It's not like the rest are complete garbage or can't develop over their Senior Years....
Who's to say those 3 wont flop their Senior Years or get injured....
Shyt happens... And as big as Texas is... there are always kids out there.... Drop or not, you can't tell me that there aren't any LB's worth taking a look at in the HUGE STATE OF TEXAS other than those 3 guys.... :bored:
That's like looking for 3 specific fish in the Gulf of Mexico.

Chris Williams is a great LB. I really like this kid and he was high on us when Fran was here but Sherman hasn't really offered the kid and now it's looking like Lsu ot tu.

Alot of our troubles recruiting defense can be laid at the feet of Reggie Herring. He came in, occupied a seat for a month or so, did very little in the way of recruiting, and then bailed...leaving us to find a new guy and play catch up on recruiting. By the time we catch up and start getting after alot of these guys, they have already been hearing from guys like Stoops and Miles for 6-9 months. I am not giving up on some of these guys just yet though. If we come out this year and play a style of defense that is closer to our Wrecking Crew traditions, we stand a good chance to lure a few guys back away from other teams.

Chris Williams is a good LB but from the people that I have talked to he has been considered a "grade risk" by some programs. Don't know if A&M is one of those programs or not but I know that we should be persuing him along with other.

Why don't we just let Sherman coach/recruit etc. You guys can criticize all you want but let's face it...we paid this venerable dude to make wise decisions...so let him and quit second guessing him...I don't think Sherman is an idiot....Damn, I didn't realize all of you guys were D-I coaches...Fran has barely gone and now we(some) are bashing the new guys decisions...
