What I want to know is how can we possibly stop terrorist attacks by muslims? If we kill them then they will just have more incentive to kill us. If we kill one muslim extremist then there will be 5 more to take his place. So what are we supposed to do? It seems as though we hate them because they hate us. I feel like we're fighting this war in self defense, but I'm sure there are a lot of muslims that feel the same way. Put yourself in the average Iraqis shoes... they watch tv that tells them that American soldiers are attacking them for no reason at all. I just don't see an easy solution.

That is exactly how we combat this. Slowly and over time. Start with schools. Start getting them to consider other things through education. Suddenly their kids are walking around in jeans, listening to westernized music on ipods. After awhile, they will find that they have become the very people that they are currently trained to hate.

George Bush was an idiot. I don't hate him, but I'll be glad to see him leave office. The whole Republican Party for the last 3.5 - 4 years has been persuaded by self-interest and poor leadership. I would never suggest that Iraq was better off without the war, but the whole thing was unwarranted and needless. Between terrible immigration control, ridiculous ignorance and pork-barrel spending I will not be sad to see 43 out of office.

That being said, the Democrats are far far far far far from better. If you are voting for Hillary, then in our theory of US government we basically have nothing in common.

You are absolutely wrong about that. You couldn't possibly be more wrong.

A huge number of the most radical muslims can't read or write. Everything that they know and believe comes from the imam in their mosques and the tv stations they watch. As such they are 100% at the mercy of who the imams and broadcasters are and what those people want them to believe. If you teach them how to read and write, then they have the ability to get information from anywhere. They can read books, read the internet, etc. (yes they actually have the net over there and it is very popular!). Once you break the deadlock on education and information exchange that is currently enforced by the imams, then you have opened the door to real change.

We won't win this war in the hearts and minds of the 50 and 60 year old men whose opinions are set. We will win this war in the hearts and minds of the 10 year old boy who got a soccer ball from a US soldier and whose brother's life was saved by a military medic when the terrorist's bomb went off. We will win it in the hearts and minds of the 8 year old girl who can go to the school for the first time in her life and credits the US soldiers with making it possible, while the extremists threatened to kill her if her parents sent her to school. We will win it by giving the 20-something year old engineer a chance to work at a job where they don't have to swear allegiance to the Baath party and can vote for whoever they want for president. Support for extremism in the middle east will die when education and information reach through and show people that there is another way.

Also, the only difference in the original and edited versions is the removal of the mohammed cartoon in the edited version. He changed it because of a complaint by the cartoonist that he had not been asked for permission to use the cartoon.

Also, education is a HUGE factor. When a civilization becomes educated (aka "civilized"), they become more peaceful. Muslims go on and on about the crusades, but that was a time when many Christians were poor and uneducated. This is the same thing we are now seeing from Islam.
