So, what's the story behind AggieFans.com?

The idea for AggieFans.com began on March 25, 2005 for people who were sick of TexAgs.com's tight restrictions on ideas, inconsistent moderation, and very little features.

Why, when alternative sites such as aggie resistance already exist? Just curious about how this all went down.

I also made it just because I felt there wasn't enough participation/activity on other Ag forums (besides Texags). Agtimes, 12th fan, it's always slow...

I had that, "I could do better" mentality, and figured I'd put out a good forum, with lenient posting rules, and try to get together a good group of Ags so that we could have, if anything, good topics and constant posting.

I just wanted to have another stop on my rounds through Texags, Agtimes, etc. Now I do - Aggiefans!

I didn't know about Aggie Resistance at the time, and honestly, I don't think it would've mattered.

Even with all those sites, it's another forum to hear ideas. That's why I started it...I guess it's Aggie Resistance 2 in essence because it was founded on the same ideals??..

Also, I've always had a goal to get a forum community up where it's all division 1 schools linked on the same site..that way you have a lot of cross communication/posting instead of people wandering into your site right before they play you...I always thought that would be cool.

I've never found a site where this worked though..I've seen ones that have failed. :(

I have been a lurker for several years now on many major board.

I really enjoy just reading TexAgs and Agtimes but not really post.

Aggieresistance just flat out scares me at times.....

It was started by the poster known as vlyrock.
The first mod was TexAg2006.
The first poster was Drago.
Other who helped get it started: EconAg05, EKGill, polish, DefenseScout , TxAg32, texag005, forestgump, Loftin, Slotback , and MarylandAG

I guess that makes me one of the "Founding Fathers."

Nice Work TwelthAG. This is a good thread to pull out every couple of months to see where the site if going. Definatly one of the best sites on the internet.

Weird to see alot of names in the First 50 that never post anymore. That is kinda sad. But the cool tradeoff is that there is a bunch of new kickass posters. A year later and the core group is still outstanding.

EDIT: In unrelated news..... I totally forgot how I found out about the site.

Some of those site names we came up with at the begining were pretty bad. I'm glad we went with "aggiefans.com"

I ran into EconAg on the field after the game! He spotted me out & came up & said Hello! Was good to see him again. He said he still frequents, he just quit posting.
