Anyone been to Schlitterbahn in Galveston? Reason - we have a family vacation planned for New Orleans but now the kids throw a curve with this idea. Wanted to get some input, thanks in advance.

i would say galveston and schlitterbahn would be a better family destination than new orleans, but i have not been to it.... what were you going to do in NO with the kids, tour the damage left by katrina.... ;)

"CHL"???? What is this CHL that you speak of?
Real quick - we are talking a family vacation to Maui and Kauai next year so we wanted a simple vacation this year. The wife is all up on going to New Orleans, supposedly there are some good swamp tours, river boat tours and also one of the best aquariums in the states. AND there is a Katrina Tour.
I would rather do something simple like Schiltterbahn in Galvseton, and stay at the Moody Gardens hotel and hit up Kemah one day but you know how women can be hard headed and beeotch/complain.

Concealed Handgun License!
I don't anything specifically about Schlitterbahn Galveston, just about Galveston in general.

For sure! It seems like 'Cuzer likes to hang out in some shady areas while on family vacation. ;)

I would suggest Schlitterbahn in New Braunsville. Better crowd & you can do the tube the river bit. Lotsa pot heads but they're generally safer than the crack heads at Galveston.

I know when they first opened the galveston park it really sucked. They've expanded now and I think its about equivalent to Splashtown or the old Waterworld. The best thing about the park is that you can walk there from Moody Gardens and you can always go to the beach if you don't like it.
The New Braunfels Park is SIGNIFICANTLY better, but there's not as much to do in New Braunfels.
The New Orleans Aquarium is much better than Houston or Corpus, but how much fun are you going to have in an aquarium? The riverboat tours are ok, but I'm not sure if all kids will like it, and all of my New Orleans experiences are pre Katrina. In my opinion, you and your wife will have more fun in NO, the kids will have more fun in Galveston.

The coolest thing we ever did was Discovery Cove in Orlando. They let only 1,000 people into the park per day, admission (about $100 pp) pays for everything (unlimited and high quality food & beer). No lines. Outrageously fun.
