Not that it makes us feel any better, but still good to see national media mentioned our screw job...

I agree. Not much we can do about it now, but nice that it is mentioned.
My understanding is that Sloan did not run the play that was designed during the timeout. He was supposed to drive and kick out to Kirk, basically using Carter as a decoy. Would have been fun to see Kirk take that shot. I believe he would have buried the shot and put a ended UCLA's season.

The problem is everybody wants to keep saying that Sloan didn't run the right play. The play was drawn up to get the ball to Kirk for a 3, and Sloan did pull the trigger on the drive a little early probably, but if you watch that replay, none of the guys outside are really wide open. While it would've been fun to see a Senior, especially Kirk hit the 3 and win the game... I'm not gonna lay any blame on Sloan for what he did.

Not trying to blame Sloan. Just would have liked to see Kirk get a shot at the winning basket.
Would have liked to have seen him at the foul line...

I wanted Sloan to pull up, hit a 3 at the buzzer.

Kirk was slow getting down the court and wasn't in position for the kickout when Sloan was driving. We had a similar situation in the kansas game last year, where Sloan took a final shot too quickly without making use of the time he had. Part of his maturing process needs to be learning to pace the clock at the end, so he doesn't abandon a play and take the shot with too much time still left on the clock.

I would have liked to see us not blow a 10 point lead and need a 3-pointer!
 The whole situation at the end was unnecessary.

i think part of the reason kirk wasnt open was because donald didnt let him get open.... kirk did open up right before sloan made his drive.
