View Full Version : My emotions after the game...

I was upset, depressed, angry. I couldn't believe we didn't get some calls at the end, I couldn't believe how few points we scored in the last "quarter" of the game. I couldn't believe we lost this game.
Then on the ride home, I remembered the huddle at the end of the game, the things this team has fought through, and the fight they kept showing. I have never been prouder of a team.
This season was a roller coaster for us fans, but even more so for the players, who dealt with far more than we did. A funeral, a new coach, a new system, higher expectations than ever, etc. And in the end, they kept fighting. Respect? Rarely did they get it, but they kept pushing.
And in the end it was all about family. That huddle at the end of the game. Guys who have fought together, for each other, both on and off the court. The family that we all love, the family that they represent. Fighting Texas Aggies.
Thank you Ags for the season, for elevating your play above all circumstances, and continuing to fight for yourselves, for your team, for the FAMILY.

:gig:... pretty much my feelings on things. although im still pissed because we should have won this game (and i keep remembering that when i start to put it all in perspective). i do wish kirk or jones had taken that final shot just to give the senior a chance to win it.
this team really did deserve to go on and they very well could have made it to the final four with whats left in the west.

oh definitely. I keep having that raging battle of, MAN WE HAD THIS GAME, to THESE ARE KIDS, FELLOW AGS, PLAYING THEIR HEARTS OUT.
In the end, I'm going to hold my head up, be proud, and now that someday, we will get our due.

What a season. What a game. The team could have easily folded after the loss at tech. They may have lost the game, but I think they gained respect of everyone for how they fought hard and made ucla really sweat it out till the end. We will be better next year.:gig:

i can feel better about the play that should have been run at the end.... getting a senior a look at a 3 point shot to win was a very good call.
A&M coach Mark Turgeon was going for the throat on the game's pivotal play. He said the play was designed to get Dominique Kirk an open 3-point shot. Josh Carter was merely a decoy, Turgeon said. But "Sloan went crazy."
"I was going to run out of here with a one-point win," Turgeon said.
When Sloan tried to drive inside, the play broke down, and so did A&M's season. UCLA's Josh Shipp appeared to grab Sloan's right wrist, but no foul was called.
"We had a designed play set up to get our shooters open, and if it wasn't there, drive," Sloan said. "I went up to shoot the layup, I guess. It was brought back down by either my force or somebody else's. That's for other people to see.
"It didn't go our way."

I just keep thinking how we were up 10 points in the second half and somehow squandered it. Basketball is too confusing for me......bring on the football!!!!!!!

I am just glad we out lasted billy clyde. He was one and done and the people in kentucky are probably calling for his head. We had a great season, now we can look forward to next year. Great job to coach Turge and the boys. You guys did us proud.:gig:

We did good. Exceeded my expectations. Donald Sloan should never be in charge at the end of a game though. This was a very successful season in my opinion. Just the fact we made the tournament was enough for me, and defeating BYU was a big bonus.

I just have to wonder that if the game was not played in ucla's back yard, would we have gotten some calls that we didn't get? Who knows

I wonder if the blow hards down at baylor are embarrassed by our performance like they said they would be

I felt eviscerated. I really believe the better team lost. I felt the same way last year when we lost at home to Nebraska in football.

It has been a while since my disappointment could register on the Richter Scale. I can only imagine how the team felt after the game.

:gig: Proud - dang right!!! Us (us, you, we) not having been there (this level) many times appeared to attempt not to lose the game. That makes the pucker string a little tight. Also the expected winner will usually get the call or no call as it was in this situation. Hang in there, the future does look bright.

I'm by no means a basketball expert/enthusiast, I just enjoy the format of the NCAA tournament and how anything can happen.
The team played their balls off and came up short. Calls in basketball have always seemed so subjective so I t hink there area always going to be calls in close games that could go either way.
Do I think UCLA gets that call at the end of the game if it were them with the ball? Yes, they were essentially at home and they are UCLA with 11 national titles. It's not fair but it is what it is. That said losing a 10 point second half lead in a college game shouldn't happen either.
I just enjoyed the hell out of watching that game, it was just a good contest. I was pissed they lost but I wasn't bitter simply because of the quality of opponent and the quality of the contest.
