Great season despite a lot of adversity (coach deserted us, Acie graduated, Sloan's mom dies, food poisoning). Turgeon did a good job and deserves a ton of credit, as do all of our players, of course.
Love is an incredible player. Compared to other quality big men that we've faced this year (Plaisted from BYU, the PF platoon from Kansas, etc.), Love was the most impressive. I'd put him at about Beasely's level, and I think he should seriously consider going pro this summer. He was the difference in the game tonight, particularly with blocks and rebounds.

He's a guaranteed lotto pick, and would be the opposite of smart to turn down the money and risk an injury here. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him stay, but I honestly don't think he'll even consider staying.

Wasn't Authur from KU suppose to be 1 and done and a lotto pick. He came back and it still looks like he needs another year under Self before he goes pro.

A mediocre college season knocked him back to the second round. You should "strike while the iron is hot" and not take any chances. You don't stop developing your game by going pro. In fact, I bet you would improve a lot more in a rookie NBA season than you would a sophomore college season.

Sloan drove to the basket, and our guards getting dribble penetration to the basket was our bread and butter all night. Duke beat Belmont with that play, and so did Stanford against Marquette. UCLA made a great defensive play to earn a win.
Did we make mistakes over the course of the game? Of course, but no team has ever played a perfect game. We played a great game tonight, but UCLA played a little better. Give UCLA credit rather than getting mad at our players and coaches who had a great last 2 weeks of the season.

It was a foul anyways but refs won't call that. They should of because Sloan was fouled hard on his wrist. Also the dunk shouldn't count, I went back and looked. The clock already hit 0 before he got the dunk. Refs should of taken it off. We should of only lost by 2.

you can't blame it on that last play. I mean... we went for a huge scoring drought. and in that drought if we could have it shots this would have never happened. we would've won. and if we did hit shots in the drought it would carry over to our d which would have done better than what we just did in the end.

If A&M hits 2 or 3 shots... that's it... just 2 or 3 shots... and A&M is playing Monday....

Jordan started off Hot with 4 or 6 points early, then was never heard from again...
Carter had 10 points, but nothing down the stretch..
Jones tried to take on Love one on one so I give him :rep: for that.... No easy task...
Sloan & Kirk were great on Defense but average or less than average on Offense.... But Sloan has played above his head considering his situatoin....
Davis fell off as the game went on, on the offensive side of the ball... He just kept giving up the ball & stopped taking shots....

Classy real classy.
Come on man UCLA is a power program and won the game fair and square. It was a tight contest and I wish the Ags had won, but it didn't happen.
Sloan played his balls off what one week after his mother dies...
Give it a break.
Congrats to the team on the effort, I thought they had UCLA.

we had this game and let ucla back in it.... but ucla was a #1 seed for a reason. they fought back and you have to give them credit for that.
we didnt not play anywhere near our best game and still damn near pulled it out (and i was sure before the game anything less than our best we would lose big). still big :gig: to the team.
we just didnt get that big shot we needed at the end... and for the record i hope that last play was for the win and not what sloan did. in that situation you go for the win.

We had ucla and we let them come back. If we had hit our free throws and made smart passes, we would be playing next weekend. It was a good season and I can't wait to see how we do next year with a full year under Turge the Surge. The BIG XII needs to watch out, we can only get better.:gig:

The reason the season was a disappointment is the same reason why we lost tonight. A 10:00 minute stretch without a field goal won't beat very many teams, & especially not a #1 seed. Just another great game that ended in another disappointing loss--how many times has that been the case this year?

I agree Dustin, but at the same time, during that 10 minute stretch, how many times did the ball clearly go off a UCLA player yet get called out of bounds on us? There were at least 3 during that stretch alone. That is three possessions that we got screwed out of. Not saying that we would have made a shot during those possessions, but in a game like that, every possession is huge.

Oh I agree 100%. Here is the way I look at it & define it. This is where I was at the beginning of the season. I expected us to be a ranked team all season. I expected us to finish in the top 3 in the Big XII & possibly contend for a conf. championship. I expected us to at least be a Sweet Sixteen team.
I don't think any of those were unrealistic expectations coming into this season. Hell, thats about where everyone had us projected.
However, we failed to meet all those expectations. And by my definition, failed expectations equal disappointment.

Expecting us to end in the Sweet Sixteen during the first year of a new coach might be a little unrealistic. I mean, if that is the case, why stop expecting 3-4 games short of the whole enchilada?

I can see how the season is a let down compared to the preseason rankings. I guess I didn't expect us to be as good as they were saying, or at least I thought there were a lot of question marks surrounding the predictions.
I did think we'd still be a top 25 team, however, and it's too bad that the team fell out of the rankings during conference. In the end, though, final rankings are fairly meaningless and it's the tournaments that count. We played well in both, finishing in the top 4 in the Big 12 and making a good show in the NCAA.
I just can't call 3 points and a questionable call from getting back to the sweet 16 after losing Law and having a new coach and system a disappointment. To me, it just sets the bar pretty high for next year, though, kinda like the 06-07 season when A&M pushed LSU to the end in the 2nd round.
