Tip off in about 30 minutes. Here's to pulling off the upset of the tournament (maybe bigger than CU over Baylor). :gig:

KU is up 19-16. We've had two sloppy turnovers that led to Kansas dunks. Davis is playing tough. I think we need to keep pushing the ball inside, get KU's big men in foul trouble. If Chalmers or Rush get in foul trouble, we'll have a chance. We need to break off the double-teams faster also.

Kahn is getting easy looks down low because Jones, Davis and Jordan are staying out on the guards too long.

The alley oop just a second ago was a perfect example of our bigs (ELONU) hanging on to a guard while their big man cuts to the basket. We need to start letting them go Turge...!

What is the deal with these refs?? KU has their hands and bodies all over our guys, they bowl them over driving to the lane, the foul us trying to steal the ball and NOTHING is being called.

The most important stats:

BRYAN DAVIS - 0 PERSONAL FOULS
JOSEPH JONES - 1 PERSONAL FOUL

That means we don't have to play shuffle the big men down low.

Jordan has 3, but honestly, I think he's more of a liability than an asset at this point.

I don't know about that. He's the most athletic of our big men, but he's still young and raw. He's also recovering from an illness and just needs to focus and probably needed the practices that he missed.

Carter finally made a 3 (maybe that'll jump start him after an 0-7 start). Davis is a beast. If KU would miss a shot, we might be able to get closer than 6. Gotta like the way we're hanging around right now and taking KU's best shots.

Carter didn't show up in a big game (again). Mulbach is playing heads and shoulders better than him. I watched Carter stand around on several plays and never got his head in there to fight for a rebound, etc. He always just stuck his arm out half-heartedly. Very disappointed in his play....

Jones played huge. Sloan was hurt. Kirk played huge. Elonu and Davis played huge.

If we play this way come tournament time next week, we can return to the Sweet 16 at least.

TWICE the Mule forgot he had to foul, so he ran down then had to run back. The second time was why KU was able to get those extra 6 secs off the clock.

Carter's stat line...

30 minutes, 2-10 shooting, 3 rebounds, 1 personal foul. In my opinion, that's a whole lotta nothing from somebody as talented as him.

agreed.... had we gotten anything out of carter today we would have won.

i am very excited to see jones playing better.... in our season recap thread he was my biggest disappointment of the year. glad to see him getting things on track.

kirk has also shown up in the tourny. i feel alot better going into the ncaa tourny now.

Can't hang our heads over this one, for sure. We played what I think is a Final Four potential team VERY close. If we can keep playing like this, and get some production from Carter, we will be in great shape! :gig:

Agreed but it's not like he was given open looks all night... As it's been pointed out several times... Teams are putting their best defender on him now that Acie is gone...

JC isn't the kind of guy who will create his own shots... He needs someone to set him up & that isn't happening...

Was it a bad game on his part? Yeah, but everyone has had 1 or 2 bad games on the team...

JJ, DJ, Sloan, Kirk, even Davis has had a bad game... they all have...

Hell even Acie had bad games but in the end hit clutch shots down the stretch... there's no real need to get overly hard on him (not saying you are Vly, but others are)...

He's done a pretty good job all season.... Some of the other guys could have also stepped up defensively & offensively...

Had Jordan not been an obvious weakness early on, KU would have possibly not had 4 to 6 points... Wonder if that would have made a difference....:undecided:

It's easy to point at JC, but watching that game, several guys could easily be looked at as being the reason for the loss....

Not of his own fault, but Sloan could be looked at also after he got injured things became harder on A&M, and the Ags had to rely on fluke plays like Davis' 3 pointer & two 3 point shots from a guy who had only one 3 point shot all season....

The Ags win as a team & lose as a team....

I think a lot of credit can be given to KU also... They played hard and answered every Aggie score.... A&M had no answer for them in the paint & when the Ags focused on the paint, KU burned em from around the arc....

KU is ranked high for a reason....

The Ags played a better game today than they did against ISU or KSU... No reason to hang heads or get on a player or the team....

On to the Tourney and a DEEP run!!!!!!!:gig:

Did you even watch last year & this year & see how much he's been asked to change his game?????????

Who is going to draw attention away from JC the way Law did????

Name me 1 player????

Acie had bad games every year because teams would double him & put their best defenders on him...

Now that happens to JC who unfortunatly is not as good as Acie but is one of the better players on the team...

No one else has stepped up to be an offensive juggernaut or anything remotly close to being a threat worthy of drawing attention away from JC... You can bash him or think it's easy, but the kid has had it far rougher than the other Ags...

He draws more attention & if you watch every A&M game closely... EVERY TEAM has had the same game plan...

Shut down Carter & make the rest of the team beat you....

And it doesn't happen enough for the TOP LEVEL teams like KU to worry about....

Pum, have to disagree. Carter has disappeared in significant games. When he does get the ball, he dribbles for about 2 seconds then passes it, or he jacks up the shot. Rarely (later in the season), does he try to create his shot. Also, look how he's performed in our losses:

Baylor: 5-18 FG, 1-9 3 pointers, 15 points.
Texas Tech: 4-11 FG, 2-6 3 pointers, 11 points
Oklahoma State: 5-18, 1-9 3 pointers, 15 points
Texas: 3-11 FG, 1-5 3 pointers, 11 points
(WIN) Oklahoma: 2-9 FG, 1-6 3 pointers, 6 points
Nebraska: 1-5, 0-2 3 pointers, 6 points (26 minutes)
Oklahoma: 3-12 FG, 2-7 3 pt, 10 points
Kansas: 1-11 FG, 1-5 3 pts, 5 points
Kansas: 2-9 FG, 1-8 3 pts, 5 pts

Now, think about how many times we don't get the offensive rebounds on these. He's just jacking up 3's... if they're not the best shot, or if he can't make them like last year, then he needs to change his game.

I'm not saying he's the worst player on the court, but he plays a lot of minutes, and for the amount of shots (and looks he gets), he should be making more or making his own shots.

When he's hot, he helps. But when he's not, he hurts. Today was one of those days he hurts. He missed 7 3 pointers, 1 of which we got a rebound and put back. Make 1-2 of those, and the outcome could've been different.

I think he needs to play but when he's off like has been for awhile then roland or walkup should get some time. Walkup can hit some shots. I'm glad Holmes got to play. He can really push the ball up the court. I think he should be able to play more when Sloan takes a breath.

i think a huge difference this weekend is the play of dominique kirk and obviously the help off the bench

he didn't look scared to take shots...even tho i think he still couldve been more aggressive with his dribble(like muhlbach)...it's been night n day with d-kirk

the 19 points vs. k-state was HUGE

he had 12 vs. KU...but let's face it...we didn't have two starters in at the end, they obviously weren't full strength, we were playing our 3rd game in as many days against a team that is probably top-to-bottom the deepest, most talented team in the nation & we got it w/in one possession of winning it in the final minute(basically on their court). The fellas brought it, especially kirk & mule:gig:

Pumchavas28

Again... he might not be producing at the same level of last year.... but like I said.. who on the bench is better????

Also who is going to draw away the perimiter defense??

Who is going to draw away the double team he recieves from time to time????

Who is going to be the threat that Acie was to open him up????

It's easy to say he needs to change his game, but how many BBall players do we really see change their games???? At least while they are young & or still in their prime???

JC is a pure Jump Shooter & 3 point shooter also... How many times last year did he create his own shot??? How many times last year did he have a guy in his face for all of his 3 pointers???

With the 1st question being the most important... it also bring me to another question....

If there is no one better on the bench than Carter, and ya'll say JC sucks (which I don't agree with), then why is Turgeon expected to dominate with such a lack of talent....

But then again it's been said time & time again that the team is loaded.... Yet Jordan struggles on the defensive side of the ball, rumored to be more worried about the NBA than the current team & only has a Dunk as his offensive weapon. Jones is a good defender, but is often in foul trouble & takes himself out of games, but does have a good Jump Shot to compliment his paint play. Davis is the most complete player, but even then lacks a complete game. Sloan has improved but until the ISU game, hasn't played a full game up to his potential. Kirk is just as much hit or miss as Carter is.... Who does Turge put in for Carter????

Who on the Bench is better than Carter???

Lets not forget that Carter is A&M's leading Point scorer & despite his bad games also leads the team in Avg. Points per game with 11.9... Joseph Jones is 2nd at 10.9..... Not only that, but Josh Carter is also 5th on the team in Rebounding.... 3rd in Assists... 3rd in Steals.... 4th in Offensive Rebounding.... 4th in Defensive rebounding.... Is one of the smarter players on the team & seldom fouls the other team... Also he commits fewer turnovers than Sloan, Davis, Jordan, Kirk, & Jones... He does a ton of the little things.
