I haven't seen this kid play or any clips, but I put a lot of stock in the players Fran recruits and if he holds up to par with what Fran's past recruits have shown, he could be nasty. I mean the fact that he is 6'6 gets me pretty dang excited. That is huge. Just wondered if ya'll knew much about him, b/c i'm really anxious to see the mismatches on corners with this guy in the future.

he commited to A&M as a basketball player originally, but has since decided to play football also. This year he was moved to QB so there won't be many reciever highlights from him.

I had heard he committed as a B-ball player at first. I think he still will play WR at A&M, well unless he destroys everybody playing QB this year. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Jerrod Johnson Grade: 6.9
WR | (6'6" 225)

Evaluation: Johnson may be the most intriguing receiver prospect in this class because just when you think he doesn't have enough speed or elusiveness to play receiver at the college level, he shows flashes that make you believe he might be able to. In all likelihood though, this fantastic athlete is probably destined for the tight end position and he'd be a darn good one. He is a phenomenal athlete that also plays quarterback and his versatility is what gives him value. He is a very tall, well-built receiver that is a huge target in the passing game. Has surprising route running skills does a good job of finding the soft spots in zone coverage. Uses body to shield defenders from the ball, has the wing-span to win just about all jump balls and is a fantastic target in the red zone. Plays with good intensity and fights for the ball while it's in the air. Uses hands well, has good upper body strength and rarely gets held up at the line. Shows great awareness and is good along the sideline. Has good, strong hands. Catches ball away from frame and rarely drops a pass that should catch when facing the quarterback. Johnson's height and long arms make him an adequate target in the vertical passing game, but he lacks the quickness and burst in the open field of the other players in this class. However, if he grows out of the position, he should develop into an outstanding receiving tight end. Has a ton of upside and all the physical tools.

Notes: Recorded 31 31 receptions for 385 yards and seven touchdowns as a Junior
