how about the fact that he missed like 6 three's and o'neal didn't play which would've dropped his boards and points, this thread should be about Kobe and the fact that in his shooting hand he has a fracture and a torn tendon and still scored 41 and blocked 2 of the Big Cactus' shots in a game proving the Lakers can play the fast passed run game as well as they have shown how to win at the half-court game. james is but a mere court jester in the land of Bryant:cool:

i don't blame stern and the league for trying to market him i just don't see him being the answer no AI pun intended. Yes he's young and flashy but he doesn't have the all around BB skills to put a league on his back like MJ and the bulls did

LeBron is better than Kobe in every statistical category. Here are their current stats for this season, courtesy of nba.com:
Points per game:
LeBron James - 30.2
Kobe Bryant - 28.1
Assists per game:
LeBron James - 7.5
Kobe Bryant - 5.2
Rebounds per game:
LeBron James - 8.1
Kobe Bryant - 6.1
Steals per game:
LeBron James - 2.1
Kobe Bryant - 1.9
Blocks per game:
LeBron James - 1.1
Kobe Bryant - 0.5
LeBron is the best player in the NBA, and I don't think it's even debatable. There are other players who are better than Kobe (like Steve Nash, Dwayne Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaq, Tim Duncan, Carmelo Anthony, etc.).

Yep, and with a bad supporting cast.
What has Kobe done without Shaq? Nothing. What has Shaq done without Kobe? Two Finals appearances, one championship.

the trip to the finals was funded by flip saunders and his lack of bball coaching, not once, and you can go back and look, did the pistons double team princess james the best player on the cavs had they done that there's no way the team could've won that series, as for this years stats that's nice and all, but as it has been stated Kobe has a better supporting cast and doesn't have to do everything himself besides if you actually watch the games you would see bron bron can't guard a blind man stats won't tell ya that. As for your list of players better than Kobe that's hilarious come on man wade? dirk-a-dirk? yellow-melo? and as much as i love shaq that's just dumb to say, he's barely a shell of his former self and proved that the other night when Kobe and team handed 2 better players than hima nice home loss. Nash and Timmy the goat are debatable as each of the 3 are prob the best at playing their postion.

Only in basketball is there this endless debate on who is the best player. It's stupid. If all these guys had a one on one tournement, no one would win because no one could stop anybody. Kobe is the best offensive player in the league. Lebron could not go out and score 80 points in a game. But Lebron is a better overall player. As far as the whole defense thing goes, Kobe could not play D at Lebron's age either. That comes with time. Jordan sucked at D early in his career. Lebron is better at his current age than Kobe was. Its just like the debate over jordan and Magic. Jordan was the better scorer, but Johnson was better at the other aspects of the game. But Jordan was able to market himself much better, making him a lot more popular. The same thing can be said about Lebron. He is the best self promoter the league has seen since Jordan.

contradiction? how can you say Lebron is better when you say Kobe is the best offensive player and you just conceded the fact that he can't play D? Kobe sat the bench most of his first and a good part of his second season as per the Zen One so he can learn from what was then a veteran Laker team. He even let Kobe put his foot in his mouth with letting him shoot and miss the final shot in game 3 of the blazers series in 98, a series they eventually lost.

How did I contradict myself? Maybe I should have said that Kobe is the better scorer and Lebron was the better overall offensive player which was what I meant. Still, Lebron at 18 was better than Kobe at 18, Lebron at 19 was better than Kobe at 19 and so on. Lebron was a better highschool player. There was a reason why he was on the cover of sports illustrated in highschool.
Saying all that, I still think Kobe is hurt by the fact that he played at the tail end of Jordan's career. I think people were less willing to believe anyone would take over Jordan as the greatest of alltime. Even though their ages are not that far apart, it seems like Lebron has been more embraced by the NBA and it's fans.

wow I am so glad I don't care what you think or else that might have crushed my self-esteem and you must know nothing about me to make such a broad statement about my bball knowledge but thanks anyway as for my butchering of grammar from now on i'll make sure to run all posts by you for corrections:D , as for KC's post what they were in hs or at 18 or 19 has nothing to do with right now who is better. Kobe plays in a much stronger division and conf. than lebron does and does it at a higher level watching the games shows you that. I'm not saying lebron isn't a piece of coal that can't be a diamond i'm just saying that overall Kobe is the better player right now.

I still don't understand how it's up for debate. What aspect of basketball is Kobe better than LeBron at? Being a self-centered jerk? LeBron has more points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks per game.

If you mean Phil Jackson by the "Zen One" (I've never heard that...only Zen master) you need to review your basketball history...Phil came over in Kobe's 4th year.

I find it ironic that just to the left of the poll is a (rotating upon refresh) "stat leaders" box which shows LeBron averaging 2 points more than kobe on the year...
Also this poll is shortly after Kobe's 52 point game...

LBJ beat Detroit without talent around him....

Talent is talent... Doesn't matter what else is going on..... Only an avid defendant would go to the length of pointing out the details...
That's like me going out of my way to dismiss a Chip the Spurs didn't win, or a Mavs or Suns fan doing the same....
Facts are Facts... After Shaq left he won another chip... Did he help in the Finals??? NO, but he helped get Miami to the finals... Miami sucked before Shaq & they suck after Shaq....
Gary Payton continued to play well in Miami after LA, and Malone well... Malone was doing pretty good in that Finals series also....
Also... Thanks for bringing up the issue of KB tearing down a team by himself.... I have yet to see LBJ do that... if anything, he's done the opposite. Thanks. :)

you should stop trying to read between lines my friend I didn't suggest he tore anything up except the court, his supposed mentors shaq and the zen one didn't have his back almost turned theirs on him thus the feud, how would you feel if 2 guys you had just won 3 champs with suddenly didn't have your back when you needed it most betrayed? :huh:I would for sure. Kobe being young at the time didn't handle it well with the 2 but water under the bridge for the one who matters and they are on their way to win that next set of 3 rings:gig:

I'm hoping for a Spurs/Lakers Western Conference Finals.....
But well see...

u may laugh now but the Lakers have a good nucleus gasol, bynum and the chosen one, with vujacic coming along nicely as a pg, and odom is a good roll player as well as radmanavic, only time will tell, plus lets see how princess james does the first time he faces real adversity off the court Kobe held up on the court plus he's only playing with 9 fingers at the moment

03-04-2008, 01:38 PM
And no one else has a chance????
I'd put my Spurs in the convo for the future, but I know they only have 2 "MAYBE" 3 years left... But a team like the Mavs, Suns, Rockets, Magic, just for starters could all easily hang with & beat LA also.... and in the future all have the chance at winning Chips of their own....
To predict 3 more rings is beyond wishful thinking.... Regardless of who is on that team.
