According to Chris Lathrop (McGuffie's HS teammate who just signed with the Ags), McGuffie is still undecided and is considering Cal and A&M. Interesting no mention of Michigan.
Also some tidbits in the article about Davis leaning towards the Ags and this guy's opinion that we have a better class than the sips.
However, a final decision still awaits for Cy-Fair star running back Sam McGuffie who may not be headed to Michigan after all.
The senior, who verbally committed to the Wolverines in the summer, did not attend the Bobcats’ signing day ceremonies on campus today and has not signed a national letter of intent. The 5-11, 190-pound McGuffie has not immediately returned phone calls seeking comment, but one of his teammates has spoken to him today.
“I talked to him,” said Cy-Fair offensive lineman Chris Lathrop, who signed with Texas A&M this morning. “It’s like a wedding almost. He got cold feet and didn’t come to school. He told me that doesn’t know where he wants to go.”
“He said he’s thinking about Cal and Texas A&M,” Lathrop said.
While most of the elite players in the Houston area had already made pledges before today, one player — Eisenhower defensive tackle Rod Davis — remains. The 6-3, 295 pounder will make his decision tonight, as Texas A&M, Texas, USC, Cal and Florida await word on where the four-star talent chooses to attend college. "My feeling is that Davis is going to be an Aggie," said Vital. "I remember talking with him during the summer and he told that he felt that Texas A&M was like a family."
Should Davis go to College Station, it would be another elite prospect that new head coach Mike Sherman will bring in. The former Green Bay Packers head coach and Texans assistant — who was named to the Texas A&M position in late November — has pulled in a group of players that Scout.com currently ranks as the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation.
Among the highlights of the Aggies' class is Katy DB Trent Hunter, Beaumont Central WR Derrick Hall and Pearland OL Brian Thomas. All three are four-star athletes that could make an immediate impact.
"Right now, I think Texas A&M has a slight edge over Texas," said Vital. "Coach Sherman started stockpiling talent the second he came in. What really strengthens this class is how he was able to get so many area players. He really cleaned up in the Houston area.
