Former head coach Dave Campo, who was fired after three straight 5-11 seasons in 2002, visited with Wade Phillips and his staff here Monday afternoon and is expected to be named secondary coach at a 2 p.m. press conference.
Campo was part of Jimmy Johnson's initial coaching back in 1989 when Jerry Jones bought the team. Like several coaches from the first staff, Campo came from the University of Miami and started out as a defensive assistant. In 1991, he was promoted to secondary coach for four years before he was named defensive coordinator in 1995. Campo's defenses finished in the NFL's top 10 in four of his five years as defensive coordinator.
I will say this..... the Jags DB's have played above their talent Level.... With Newman, Henry, Hamilton & Watkins more than likely starting at the 4 DB spots next season.... I would hope that Campo can do the same for our 2ndary as well....
Lord knows the Jags DB's did a far better job against the New England WR's than our's did...
