They are having their draft tomorrow at 11 (central). Several A&M guys are expecting to get picked up:
Jamal Barrett, Courtney Lewis, Justin Warren, Kevin Mangum, Bryce Reed & John Kirk
Lee Foliaki is still working on his degree-might be able to finish before training camps start.
OL Alan Reuber has already signed with the Texas team.
All these guys have their degree from A&M, and are getting another oppurtunity to play football and get paid. Whether you think its going to flop or not, its still nice to support our guys:gig:

Question....
With the way they did their drafts.... And the way they tried to keep home grown talent at home.....
Why not just make it so that anyone who went to college in your state, was automatically part of your team.....
But for everyone from a College that does not have a team in the state of one of the Pro Teams, those players are the one's who get drafted.....
Why not do that or make it official???? It seems that is what they did to begin with....

I worked with Lee over the semester, he left due to signing with some arena football team. He was waiting to finish up his degree and was waiting for some stuff to open up. He wasn't going to go the arena route, but they changed the rules of how LB played and thats what made him jump.
When I came to A&M i almost rented a room from Jon, i looked at it the day after we beat ttu. so long ago:sad:

I don't understand why they have the team in Houston. It seems that it would be smarter to have it in Austin. It's a huge area that has no real teams to follow other than the horns.

I don't understand it either... I would have guessed that the Pro Team would have been in Austin, San Antonio or Corpus Christi.... But SA & Austin would have been the common sense picks... both cities piggy back on each other (being 45 minutes away from each other)....

Houston fans are known to support their teams. An area of over 4 million makes more sense than a city with less than 1 million. Also, Houston has access to more and better facilities. If this league lasts, I doubt they'll stay at Rice Stadium for long.

I thought Houston only had 2 Million (2,144,491).... and the only City over 3 Million was New York (8 Mill +)....
Not trying to get into a pyssing contest or anything...
But if you combine the Austin & San Antonio populations, you get about the same Population as Houston (2,006,575)....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population)
If the AAFL Pro Team does well, you would think folks in San Antonio would piggy back on it... of course having em at the Alamo Dome seems a better fit than Rice Stadium or Austin.... (It would also shut up folks in San Antonio for a while & give them a chance to prove their worth to the NFL, as far as attendance & sales go)

If count Houston by itself it is only around 2.2 million but if you count the surrounding area (Sugarland, Baytown, Jersey Village and Deer Park) it is well over 5.5 million. Just like if you were to add tristate area for New York or DFW-Arlington area for dallas. They make them much larger.
Pumchavas28
01-29-2008, 09:48 AM
You could very easily do the same for any major city......
But New York's Population of over 8 Million does not include those additional surrounding areas....
