Anyone going to the Houston Live Stock Show & Rodeo this year? I have been the past 4 years and I have a really good time. I have a buddy in H-Town who plays drums in a Country/Rock-a-billy/Honky Tonk band conveniently named "The Honky Tonk Heros" - www.gottwang.com (http://www.gottwang.com). Each year they play in the Reliant Center 2nd Floor Main Club for the Rodeo Gold Badge Club and go on around 10:30 after the main act in the stadium. It is a blast.

I'd like to go, but we'll see about getting tickets to it. I might go in to the bbq contest and do some other stuff like that, but not sure which act I'd like to go see. Fergie = wtf?
My wife's from out of state and wants to check it out, so we'll see. Have fun.

Looks like a pretty crappy lineup. Too bad Hanna Montana is already sold out!
What happened to the good old days when I was in HS and they would have Lynyrd Skynyrd opening for Hank Jr? Now that was badass concert.

Yeah, my Sr year of high school, we went in to see Marshall Tucker, Bo Diddly, Hank Jr, and Charlie Daniels. It was pretty sweet.
As for the Hannah Montana, that's bs too. Just because her dad was ostensibly a country singer doesn't mean they should have her there.
I'd like to go to the bar-b-que cookoff. mmmmm.......

I agree the line up has been pretty crappy. I have seen Kenny Chessney(sp), John Mayer, Pat Green and George Strait. Believe me I didn't pay to see Chessney, and Mayer got free tickets that was the only reason I went. Got free tix as well to Green and Strait. Strait put on a good show I was impressed. Good thing about seeing Strait is that since my wife, as well as every other woman on earth thinks he is hot, after the show we went back to our hotel and she gave me a good rompin. I need to take her to see him more often. :gig: I was hoping he would play this year as he used to either open or end the rodeo.

Yeah, me too. I know someone on a team, so it should be fun. The question is do I feel like going to Houston and dealing w/ traffic.

Never been to SA's so I can't compare. As for comparing Houston stuff to other cities, you won't find me sticking up for that **** hole.

George Strait is a rare singer that can sit on a stool and sing, do nothing else, and still thoroughly entertain the crowd. I used to see him every year when I lived in Houston.
