View Full Version : Change in recruiting policy

There seems to have been a change in our recruiting policy as of last night.
Some may know what I'm talking about and I'm not really sure if I can say what it is or how it started but be aware that there's quite a dispute among aggs as to if it is good or not. Let's just say it's a signal to the rest of the country that we will no longer be viewed as a fall-back commitment.
Seeing as there are 3 guys who, as of this weekend's developments, could go either way(along with probably 5 other guys who could are also in the fold), this rollercoaster of a recruiting year could have its biggest twists and turns in its final two weeks.

I think it was a good move. Plus, we asked him, are you with us or not (from what I heard). Seems pretty fair to me.

Lets just say that he is not the only recruit that this might happen to.

A quote from my favorite business school professor (he taught strategy):
"Companies are interested in cadidates with hunger and aptitude. And in that order."
Looksa like the same can now be said for A&M. Let's get recruits that WANT to play for us....

i think most liked this move....it just sucks that so-and-so kind of has to be the example
im most concerned about what this will do concerning RD since he was given something to think about this weekend

I like this move. We may lose some recruits, but I think we may gain some as well from this. I saw with the West Virginia-OU game what happens when you have two talented teams playing and one team is filled with guys playing for the name on their helment and the other is playing as if they think they deserve something because of the name on their helment.

I've got no problem w/ the approach. Why are yall being so hush about the guy's name? Thought it was common knowledge.

It is KLM for those that don't know. Its on the front page of Websider and he is no longer on the commits list for 08.

I'm okay with it. It doesn't mean he won't come here -- it just means we're not going to hold a spot for him to search for his best options and have us as a fallback.

Going a little overboard there fella. Not sure where the #5 comes from. I get pay material and haven't a clue as to who these 5 could be.

Try these 6:
Dean
Gray
J. Smith
Square
E. Brown
A. Boyd
And now you could even add another one (7) who has been rumored to be in town this weekend and might get a offer.

I think people are not fully understanding this "change." It should be noted that this "change" only applied to KLM and no other recruits. I'll post more in the premium forum.

Yes as of right now only applies to KLM. But soon the "change" could also be applied to a few other recruits.

We all fully understand. Some of us agree with it and some people such as you don't. Each "soft verbal" is a unique situation. Rod Davis for example is a highly ranked/recruited player in a high need position for us. We don't have someone who could take his place as far as position and or ranking. At DE, there are other DE'(s ) whom the coaches think very highly of that are looking very strongly at us.
What other specific soft verbal commits do you want this applied to? How many of our other commits are taking official visits to other schools this weekend other than KLM? Answer those questions for me.

I can see it applied to Harris, Hall and Chavis. All 3 are still shopping around their services.
