So far, the new year has brought me and my family nothing but stress and problems. I sure hope this isn't a sign of things to come this entire year.

In the first week of this year, my wife and two boys have had a total of 7 doctor's appointments. My boys started off the year with sinus and ear infections. They just got done with those but both picked up a stomach virus from school yesterday. My oldest son is probably going to have his adnoids removed b/c of the recurring sinus infections, but needs a CT scan to confirm this. I've got to take him to that next week. Tomorrow, I have to take my wife to get an MRI done to see what has been causing her headaches. (The doctor thinks its nothing major...nerve related, but I'm still nervous about what else it could be). I think I set a record for the fastest person ever to meet their family's insurance deductible for the year. It took us less than one week!

My sister's house in Uvalde basically decided to fall apart in 2008. She had three water pipes bust in her wall and foundation last week (all at different times). It flooded her kitchen and has caused her walls to crack as well as major foundation damage. Another nice start to the new year.

On Tuesday, my grandma totalled her car trying to get out of the way of an ambulance. She is banged up a little but not hurt too bad. But, now I have to go buy her a new car, talk to her insurance company, etc for her so that she doesn't get screwed over.

Basically, everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong. Maybe some positive thoughts from some fellow Aggies would help us out.

Hopefully you are just getting the entire years worth of problems done in the first couple of weeks and the rest of the year will be smooth and easy. Sorry to hear about all the problems. Hope things get better. Let me know if I can be of any help.

I will have mercy on you this year...

Sorry to hear about your bad news...I just hope you can be "tough" through all of this (you know, like cart mccoy!)

I'll do my best. In fact, I'm on my way to the snack machine for a Snicker's bar right now. Just hope noone takes it from me or else I'll have to send out a mass email to my company asking who took my snickers?

as long as you don't run into Kellen Heard...I think you're ok.

I hear he loves to steal snickers from "tough" people!

If the quality of your company is comparable to the quality of your posts, hiring you will just make their house fall down faster! ;)

In all seriousness, they have it all taken care of as far as I know. You guys work all the way down to Uvalde?

Your situation could be a bad omen. Kind of like having Hillary, Obama, McCain or Romney as President.

Situation is critical already....

I know it's cliche, but everything happens for a reason. Keep your head up my friend.

Yeah, at this point, I am just having to laugh at all of my misfortunes. The thing that keeps a smile on my face is how pissed off my insurance company must be with me right now! My best estimate is that they had to pay over $10K for me in January.

In case anyone cares, 2008 still sucks.

Since my last post, my grandfather passed away and my 6 month old spent last week in the hospital. It sure is hard to stay positive lately.

Koby is okay now, but still not 100%. Its definitely not fun seeing your infant taken to the hospital in an ambulance. He had a really bad case of RSV that was preventing him from breathing properly. His oxygen/blood ratio was way too low, so he had to be kept on oxygen in the hospital until his body recovered enough to do it on its own. He's back home now, but is expected to still be coughing and not feeling 100% for up to 3 more weeks. Poor kid had a rough week last week.

Oh, I guess I could also mention that my oldest son had a trip to the ER earlier in the week as well b/c he got so sick!

not to get into people's personal beliefs...
but what does that have to do w/ anything, duff?

would worse things happen to them if they weren't baptized?

maybe I should start a new thread to discuss this...but I really don't think this has relevance at all...since children are innocent & without sin...but maybe you disagree w/ that.

macduff93

Yes.

Thank God. Was and has your priest or pastor been making a point to be with and/or pray for your family through all this? If not, please let him know you would appreciate it. It's an easy thing to forget at times like this, but we need to lift one another up and it does help. :)

It's hard to understand why these things happen, but you know as well as I do that there's a reason and maybe, just maybe, by these events taking place, some greater tragedy has been avoided. God is funny that way.

Being that it's Lent, reflecting on and staying focused on Christ and His suffering is a parallel I can't help but keep making from what you're going through. Being in this world stinks sometimes, but knowing that we're not of this world makes it all bearable.

Look at it this way, your kids are recovering and your family is together. Maybe by going through these illnesses their immune systems have been strengthened to fend off some virus that they'll face later in life. Maybe you'll never know.

We'll add your family to our prayer list at Lenten mass tonight.

Only if they didn't survive.

Scripture says otherwise.

Start your thread and let's see what Scripture has to say about it.:)

I hate to continue to be a downer on this site, but talking about the bad things happening to me an my family to some fellow ags is helping me cope.

Unfortunately, just when I thought that things couldn't get any worse, they got much worse. My dad got really sick last week, but had just moved to Austin so he didn't have a doctor up here yet. I talked to him on Thursday morning and he sounded so bad. I called back later and didn't get an answer at his apartment. I felt in my heart that something was wrong so I went to check on him. When I entered his apartment, I found him lying on his kitchen floor. He had died of a heart attack right after talking to me on the phone. :( I miss him so much already. I know God has a plan for everything, so my faith is helping me get through this, but I am having a really hard time understanding life right now. I just don't understand why it was his time to go. Rest in peace dad, I love you so much.

The following day, on my way home from the funeral home with my sister and brother in law, a guy on his cell phone ran a red light in front of me. I t-boned him going 50 mph and totalled my wife's Denali. The Trailblazer did an airborne 540 and landed so hard that he blew all 4 tires. There were no skid marks from either car. The bright side is that somehow, everyone walked away from the accident w/o a scratch, including my sister who was in the back seat w/o a seatbelt. She didn't even move from her seat. That will make you think. I also thank God that the guy that I hit didn't have a passenger b/c there is no way they would have survived. I guess my dad was watching over us on Friday b/c we could have easily been killed. Here are some pics of the crash.

I pray that this is the last of my family's misfortune for a very long time. If you guys are saying a prayer tonight, do me a favor and say one for me. I could really use it.

Amazing Pville. I'm so thankful nobody got hurt and you have to feel semi-blessed that nothing happened (when visibly it looks like it could have been really bad).

Keep your head up and know we're all praying for you...

Pville...I don't know you (other than on here) but man I'm thinking about you & your family right now...

It's times like this, when things are bad (understatement) that sometimes the best medicine is to hold your kids, kiss your wife, and thank the good Lord that you are blessed as much as you are...despite the horrible circumstances.

I cannot imagine losing my dad...my heart hurts for you bud. Prayers are being sent now.

I'm sure you are getting all sorts of spiritual advice & support (hopefully), but if not...try to read Job...and maybe you can find comfort.
