I have the solution to the NCAA football postseason:
1. Have a 12-team playoff, but keep the current BCS system for ranking teams (Harris+Coaches+Computers).
2. The champion of every BCS conference is guaranteed a playoff berth, as well as any team that is undefeated.
3. After the automatic bids are given, the teams with the best BCS ranking fill in the remaining spots.
4. The teams who are BCS ranked 1 through 4 earn a first round bye. This way, EVERY game in the regular season still matters. Sure, the #1 team who already won their conference and is 10-1 could tank the last game and still be included, but a first round bye is worth playing for . Would you rather beat a team like Pitt and get a bye, or tank that game and have to play Kansas in the first round?
5. The Cotton Bowl (which is soon to move to Jerry World), is now a BCS Bowl. The bowls will rotate who is selected as the location of the final game and semifinals.
For example, let's say that the Orange Bowl is chosen as this year's location. The semifinals and final game will be played at the Orange Bowl. The first two rounds would be separated into regions (the Cotton Bowl region, the Rose Bowl region, the Sugar Bowl region, and the Fiesta Bowl region). Each region would host a first round game, and the winner of that game versus a team with a bye.
6. The rest of the bowl games would still be played normally to reward teams with winning records.
7. Here's an example of what this year's playoff could've been:

I think that this system could satisfy everyone. Every team that deserves a shot gets one, while there is still incentive to play every game. All BCS bowls would host epic matchups that would still make money, and the rest of the bowls could still be played to reward winning teams.
