Current ones won't be around forever.

He needs to stick with the maroon and white (cy-fair's colors too)

I agree. I don't see Goodson staying for his senior year.

the reports out of recruiting websites are that next year's class from texas will be one of the best in 20 years as far as depth in stars. I wouldn't mind passing up the "stud" of this class to pretty much guarantee a couple of studs maybe next year. It's a big detourant to kids that are stars that expect to play right away for you to have a guy one year older ahead of them in your program. If I've been a star all my life, I don't wanna redshirt a year because some cheesed**k in front of me isn't as good but gets the nod because he's more comfortable & knowledgeable in the system. I like McGuffie, I even like Cyrus, but it could be an ultimate positive to start gunning for the recruits of next year's class instead.

I have to agree with WesTxAg... considering the talent we have starting & behind Mike & J-Lane... not having McGuffie in camp & bringing in another stud at a position of serious need, would be a pretty good deal, considering the RB's that are coming out next year...

Besides... He currently doesn't even hold an Offer from A&M according to Rivals list of kids with A&M offers.

http://tamu.rivals.com/offerlist.asp?sport=1&school=82&year=2008

A&M could also try & focus more other targets... Guys like Adrian Bushell... he has no one listed as a Favorite & is listed as a 4 Star Athlete who has been playing both RB & DB.

And lets not forget that Cyrus Gray is the only RB that A&M has offered that has not commited to another team... Calhoun, Dean, Thomas, Hales, Hills & McGuffie have all commited to other teams, while Gray is still open...

If a guy like McGuffie wants to come to A&M, you let him. I a stud RB next year is afraid of a little competition, then I don't want him on campus anyway.

I wasn't saying don't recruit him, I'm just saying, from the reports from scout & rivals...it looks like there should be at least 3-4 other RB's next year that are better than mcguffie and cyrus.
I'd still recruit McGuffie but would be using the same, if not more, effort on more talented backs coming out next year who are already fielding more competition(because of out-of-state recruiters--i.e.-michigan with mcguffie)

Don't keep chasing next year's recruits. Get McGuffie. Most every team is one injury away from throwing away an entire season. See Oregon.

Pete Carroll recruits multiple 4-star athletes for the same position with the line, "What, you can't compete to earn a spot? I thought you were the best..."

We don't need another running back in this class. We already have Derrick Hall.

Lets give McGuffie a little credit. Why would he go somewhere where he couldn't play right away? If he leaves Michigan it will be for another school that isn't so full at running back.

Exactly. We suffered a ton of injuries in 2005 and lacked the depth (and coaching) to survive in the Big XII.

I know McGuffie is small and gets a lot of hype. However, he is a lightning-fast playmaker with a nose for the end zone. There should always be a spot for a player like that on our roster.
