I couldn't find anything on this... but I just heard on ESPN that Fran is up for the SMU job & maybe I heard wrong but possibly the Houston job also...

The names being kicked around for the SMU opening include: former Auburn coach Terry Bowden, ex-Notre Dame coach Bob Davie and recently departed Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione.

I hope he gets hired. It would save us money the way his buyout is structured.

Amazing how quickly a coach can fall from grace.

I don't see fran going to SMU, because he'd have to play TCU every year and get his butt whipped by a former assistant of his.

Houston maybe I could see, but they are all about the spread offense and run & shoot, and I don't see Fran fitting into their philosophy much. They won't like his low risk offensive strategy there at all.

I'm sure any team in a non-BCS conference that is looking for a new coach is "considering" Fran.

Does everyone believe Fran will be coaching somewhere next season?

Fran likes the Spread offense/Mulitple offense. He did very well at all his other coaching stops running the offense. He even did well here till he took the option/zone read package out of the spread offense and made it his bread and butter. If he runs the offense like he did at Bama or like we did aganist tu look out. Fran is a coach that has had a 3,000 yard passer, 1,000 yard WR, and a 1,000 yard rusher all in one season. He can recruit well and if he learned his lesson here and goes back to being the River boat Gambler Fran, I think he does well. Also look for him to surround himself with good Asst. Coaches next time.

I'm won't be convinced that he learned his lesson until he proves it. He stuck with plan at A&M and never deviated from it. He should have learned his lesson prior to the 5th season and made some adjustments long before the tu game.

I agree completely. I want to see it before I belive that he'll ever be "Riverboat Fran" again, if you could have ever called him that to begin with.

Coach Fran fits those schools well. No big teams. No big rivals. Laid back, low pressure.

He would do well at SMU. I just don't see him getting too many phone calls at this time. The entire college world knows about FranGate and the VIP Connection.
