If LSU wins they will be the 1st ever team to lose 2 games & win a Championship since Minnesota did it back in 1960... Way back when the Championship was split 3 ways...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I-A_national_football_championship

1960 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960_in_sports)
Minnesota (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Minnesota)(AP)(UPI)8-2Lost
Mississippi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Mississippi)(FWAA)10-0-1Won
Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Washington)(H)10-1Won

Minnesota was given the AP Championship.... LSU would be given the out-right sole possession of the Championship in this current system....

Wasn't one of the main arguments against a playoff, that NO 2 LOSS team would be worthy of a Championship & that the chances of it ever happening were slim to none...

CaliHornia (former poster) used to make that argument religiously... Well here we are 2 seasons later... and wouldn't you know it.... a 2 loss team could wind up with the Championship...

Keep in mind that should LSU win... they would be far from the only 2 loss team...

Here is what would be out there if LSU won the Championship.

Hawaii could be undefeated or have 1 loss. Better record than LSU
Kansas could have only 1 loss or 2 losses. Better than or equal to LSU.
All of these teams could end up with no less than 2 losses (Same as LSU)....
Oklahoma
Missouri
West Virginia
Georgia
Virginia Tech
BYU
Arizona State
USC
Boise State

Obviously most will discredit Boise State & BYU.... And while some of those teams are not in a BCS bowl game... they are not there because of dumb rules in a flawed system....

What would make a 2 Loss LSU team any better than these teams with 2 losses or Hawaii & Kansas who could have 1 or No losses themselves? Teams they would not have played or beaten during the regular or post season. (except Va Tech)

We all have talked about a playoff in different angles.... but this clearly is a huge flaw.... settling it on the field is the only real way to decide this.... JMO.

I don't understand how you can be the 7th best team one week and the 2nd best another. Especially when only two teams in front of you lost. I am not saying LSU is not one of the two best teams in the nation. Just pointing out how screwed up the current system is. Basically just stating the obvious.

Why is the number 2 so magical here. What happens if every team in the country has two losses? Is it impossible that a two loss team is best team in the counrty?

If you had an 8 team playoff some of the teams you mentioned would be excluded.

No matter what system ther is, people are going to be excluded and pissed.

One solution proposed has been the Plus 1 format. How are you going to get people to GO TO THE GAME in some random location with 1 weeks notice. If you wait 2 weeks, how late are you going to push the season? The NFL will no allow CFB to go on into their playoffs.

Quite whining and enjoy the ride of the season. It is a hell of a lot of fun if you aren't so pissed about what is happening.

 Even if an 8 team playoff existed & say Boise State, BYU & say either Missouri or Georgia was left out... You would still have a better way of providing a Legit Championship...

Don't forget that the NFL often has teams left out of their playoff... so does the NBA & does does the NHL.... those teams left out normally have a record equal to or better than another team that got in. But in the end, at no time does anyone complain or dispute the Champion of any sport that has a playoff, unless something stupid happens in the Championship game itself. Otherwise no one complains...

You can sayNo matter what system ther is, people are going to be excluded and pissed

But what would you rather have.... Piss off 11 teams or piss off 3 teams? If you take 2 of the 9 or 11 teams with a possible gripe, you come out with more questions about who the Champ is, than when you take 8 of the 9 or 11 teams....

I think if there is a playoff, then only conference champions should be included. That way, no teams are getting screwed by getting left out. Have the 6 bcs conference champions then the two highest ranking non bcs conference champions.

This would be pretty damn cool if it happened.. just looking at the match-ups & thinking of future match-ups...

Fans would love it from top to bottom & this would give us match-ups you would NEVER see...

Here's how SI.com's playoff works. Using the final BCS rankings (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/ncaa/polls/bcs/), we seeded the top 16 teams in order. To avoid inter-conference matchups in the first round, we made two simple adjustments (swapping Arizona State and Florida in the seeding process, as well as Illinois and Boston College). For the purpose of this simulation, we are going to assume that all "banged up" players (Tim Tebow, Glenn Dorsey, etc.) will take part in the action. We will be crowning a champion next week. So start voting and let your voice be heard.

This has to be the best thing I have seen from SI.com other than the swimsuite calendar.

To me, the best system would be a 10- or 12-team playoff. That way, there are some first round byes to earn. That would keep the "every game is a playoff" mentality for teams finish the regular season well after clinching a bid.

It's a win-win situation. A real playoff for a real champion, and every game matters.

Agreed..... The playoff wouldn't be that bad if Tenn, Clemson, BC & Illinois weren't in it...

I think 16 teams is too many

The best part was watching various coaches' ballots come out. Stoops ranking OU first and LSU 6th for example.

The Bowden's and their ranking of OSU, etc.

Yeah....

i'm comfortable with 12 or even 8.

12 would be ideal.

I wish the ncaa would step in and make every conference the same. There are currently 119 teams. Add App. State to make it an even 120 and create 10 conferences with 12 teams each. Have the 10 conference winners in a playoff with 7 versus 10 and 8 versus 9 to create an 8 team bracket. It would even be cool if every 5 years, the worst team in each conference was replaced by another dominant 1AA team to allow those teams to see how good they are and allow the weaker teams to build their program back up in the lower levels. I know that seems really far fetched, but just an idea.

Why App State? What about Georgia Southern (6 I-AA National Championships) or Montana (2 I-AA National Championships)?

Texas State is apparently moving up in 5 years or whenever the moratorium on new members is lifted....:bored:

It takes 5 years to get approved :wow:

That could really be something. Texas State is a surprisingly big school in a football state. I'm surprised that the football has such low attendance, bumping up to 1A is probably just the boost y'all need.
