There’s no “I” in Turgeon, but there is a “U.”: Billy Gillispie was heralded around these parts for his tough love. His replacement, Mark Turgeon, is showing plenty of resolve toward his basketball players, as well.
Turgeon played freshman sensation DeAndre Jordan only 16 minutes on Wednesday night in the Aggies’ 76-63 victory over Alabama in Reed Arena – about 14 minutes more than he would have liked because of foul trouble to post Joseph Jones.
Turgeon said afterward that Jordan was “pouting” after an early shove by the Crimson Tide’s Richard Hendrix. Turgeon apparently doesn’t like pouting.

I love our new coach.

:rep: You've made a lot of good posts recently.

Turgeon is a great coach. He expects a lot out of his players and demands quality. He realizes the potential of this team and is willing to prove a few points in order to make them understand.

We'll get a good glimpse of this team on Sunday when we play Arizona. A good, competitive game (even if it's a loss) will mean we're in great hands

Arizona is unranked & 4-2...shouldn't we beat them easily?

(I don't know who they've lost to, or who/how they've played)...

"First play of the game, he got shoved out of a play and started pouting," Turgeon said of the ballyhooed freshman. "He wouldn't listen to me, wouldn't listen to anybody. He was just real immature tonight. He's got to grow up, and he will."
this is the better quote.

They lost a close game to KU in Lawerence, so yeah, I think Arizona is pretty good.

The U of A might not be as good as they were in the past, but they are a big name with a championship pedigree.

The scary thing about how well we've been playing is how little Jordan has been a part of it. When he starts maturing and gets 30+ minutes a game, look out.

We've only got 28 games left...he might consider the possibility of maturing any day now...

I'm glad we've got him and I'm sure he awesome...but so far, i think they hype far outweighs the play...Hopefully he can live up to his billing...not good rep for us if he doesn't...

28 games is a lot. Give the guy a break, he is a freshman. He will step it up by the end of the year.

The best example is Antanas Kavaliauskas. The improvement he made during his first season at A&M was phenomenal.

I'll tell you one thing, If Jordan catches the ball and he is somewhat turned towards the basket, he's making it, and likely slamming it down your throat.

He's shooting 85.7% from the field (lets not talk about FTs :D)

I think he needs at least 2 years at the college level before even trying to go pro. He's to raw and needs coaching.

Turge has exceeded my expectations

I agree! I thought he was going to be one of the wonderful finese, desire, effort and X-O's type of guys.

He might be tougher than BCG, but without the bootcamp and all the yelling.

And I am would not be surprised, that he knows the REAL benefit of our poor 2nd half performance.

A REALITY CHECK!
