AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Tech coach Mike Leach ripped game officials Saturday, suggesting the crew favored Texas, after the Longhorns beat the Red Raiders 59-43.
Without naming him, Leach noted that referee Randy Christal lives in Austin.
"I think it's disturbing that Austin residents are involved in this. People work too hard, too long, there's too much money invested in these games to allow that," Leach said.
"Am I condemning the crew? Hell yeah, I'm condemning the crew," Leach said.

The sips get favorable officiating. In other words: water is wet.
You have to expect to battle some burnt orange refs every time you face the horns. This is why we hate them so much and why beating them is so much fun.

It is pretty bad that an Austin guy is reffing the game though...

Let's see, I recall in 1989 losing to Tech in Lubbock when referee Lloyd Dale whistled quickly to start a play with the A&M defense on the sideline. Dale was a Tech grad. Tech scores and wins the game.
The PI call on Larry Horton that same year vs. Arkansas. The official making the call was an Arky grad.
Not the first time this b.s. has occurred.

can't have alums of the schools playing officiate anymore...no rule against where they live.
the refs did suck but then again don't let what is essentiallya one man show in Austin drop 50+ on you either.

Basically leach is just using a post game press conference to interview for other coaching positions. Trying to show he has some spirit. Who really cares.

Video replay confirms the calls that the refs made in the 3rd quarter were good calls.
Perhaps leach should watch the film before condemning anyone.
I agree that the Austin resident shoud not have been calling a home game, but did he make any bad calls?
