Looks like I'm going to Singapore for a week in December. Anyone ever been there? If so, what are some cool things to do (Note: please only recommend things that will not result in a lashing from a cane).

I've been to Singapore a couple of times for work. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah, those suites cost $21K round trip! I'll either be flying Singapore Air or Cathay Pacific in business class.

Singapore Air is the best carrier I have been on... EVER!

I live in Malaysia and have been to Singapore quite a few times.

One place for every guy to check out is Orchard Towers, or commonly known as the 4 floors of whores. Not recommending that you bring anything to the hotel with you. Watch out for the lady boys. They are quite common in Singapore.

Clark Quay (pronounced key) has quite a few restaurants including a Hooters (if you can imagine that in Asia). You have to try Chili Crabs and/or Black Pepper crabs (not to be confused with anything from my first suggestion). The Chili crabs are great, but don't wear a white shirt to dinner.

For more of the family side, the Night Zoo at the Singapore Zoo is very good. Supposedly it is the best night zoo in the world.

Check out chinatown for good souvenirs.

Have fun!

never thought I'd see

"go check out 4 floors of whores"...

and

"for the family side, check out..."
in the same post...

that made me laugh.
welcome to the site red beard!

In addition to what Red Beard posted:

If you want to try chili crab, black pepper crab, or chicken rice, I suggest Lau Pa Sat. It is good and it is affordable. Any taxi driver can take you there.

Clarke Quay is nice, but there is also the Boat Quay and Robertson Quay.

As for things to do, the list is long. You can go to Sentosa Island. There are many things to do here however, it can get pricey and will take a good part of your day. Jurong Bird park is popular. Your wife/girlfriend would probably enjoy the Botanical Gardens. You can walk through the rainforest at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Or try one of my favorites, Sungei Wetlands Reserve. You can go indoor snow skiing at Snow City or water skiing at Ski 360 or simply tour the Tiger Beer Brewery. You can also tour the old temples, churches, and mosques. If you do go to Chinatown, dont be afraid to barter. If you shop on Orchard road, be prepared. They have everything, but they are pricey. Remember, no chewing gum allowed in Singapore and if you are caught bringing cigarettes in, you will have to pay GST on them.

thanks for the help. That is exactly what I needed to know.

I booked my travel this week...business class on Singpore Airlines. I think I'm more excited about the flight than actually getting there. Glad I'm not paying for it (since the flight alone is $8K). Between me and my boss being out there for a week, its gonna run my company close to $20K...all for one two hour meeting!

We're staying at a badass looking hotel called the Pan Pacific. Its supposed to be one of the nicest in Singapore. The pool looks freaking awesome.
