anyone know what the green dot on the back of all of the NFL QB's is for ?

It indicates the players that have the radio communication built in their helmets.

You would think they could've come up with a better system than a freakin green dot on the back of the helmet though.

They should use those pride stickers high school teams and some colleges use...skull, stars, buckeyes, bones, something.

I don't really understand why there is the need for it at all? Was there suspicion that teams were putting them in other helmets and I mean if they were, what difference does it make. The transmission capabilities cuts off when the play clock gets so many seconds from 0 anyways. If the QB is doing his job shouldn't he be relaying the information to the rest of the team in the huddle anyways.

The deal is that if it's in every helmet, then it takes away the need for a huddle and most of football (the play call). It also eliminates noise (from the crowd) since they can hear the QB better...

Also, if you think about it, it could eliminate the snap count all together. A coach from the booth can say "go" when the ball should be snapped... (gives a whole new meaning to the term "silent count").
