The layoff may kill the Rockies hot streak. Look for Boston to win.

Well Beckett will pitch 3 games (1,4,7). I'd say he gives them 3 wins.
If the the Rockies win game 1, I think they win, if not Sox in 5 or 6.

I think this is key here. Colorado was red hot but the layoff is gonna affect them. Boston in 5 is my guess...

I vote Sox.....but to the rockies credit if they are swept their record would still be 21-5 (including the 4 loses from the sweep) in their last 26...that is simply amazing.
I'm not saying they are going to be swept I am just emphasizing the 21-1 record they have righ now.
Beckett and Schilling are big game pitchers and live for this I say Sox in 6

Rockies are unstoppable right now. They might score 15 runs against dice-k.

Colorado, without hesitation. The media is garbage (not a quote from Gundy). They FAIL to realize that the Rockies crushed the Red Sox already this year including Josh B. They also give a huge advantage to Red Sox pitching. Not so fast! The Rockies posted the best ERA in the league after the all-star break. They also lead the league in hitting after the break. Rockies have a clear advantage in hitting, and defense. They have the MLB record for fielding this season, and the Sox can't compare. Coors Field is still a hitters park. Not for the HRs, but for the doubles and triples. It's actually so deep that players like Manny may not even record an out. Whereas the Rockies have outfield studs like Hawpe and Willy T who both play outstanding defense at Coors. This is an underrated team. and the Sox will lose badly. If there is going to be a sweep (as Mike Greenberg suggests the Sox will do to the Rockies), it will be the Rockies sweeping these overrated overpaid Boston Red Sox.

I think Boston wins. However, I am a National League guy, so I'm rooting for the Rockies.

Rockies off to a rocky (haha) start - Beckett struck out the side and Pedroia hit one over the monster.
If the Rockies can split in Boston, they have a chance - if Boston's up 2-0 going to Denver, I don't think it comes back to Boston.

Wow! Beckett is absolutely amazing. That guy is the Robert Horry of pitchers, & Big Papi is the Horry of hitters. Hard to vote against the Bloody Sox when those two are on the same team.

The Cubbies will win, well someday. It's been 62 years since their last appearance and 99 years since their last World Series Championship. I think they are due.
Teams that have never won a World Series:
Brooklyn Robins, Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, Montreal Expos, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Pilots, St. Louis Browns, Washington Nationals.

Rockies will come back and win this series. They need to get their **** together fast though. This was such a bad display of pitching. Maybe the over rested pitchers blew the momentum.

I wonder what the record is for teams in the World Series that lost game 1 by more than 10 runs. I would imagine that almost all if not all went on to lose the series.

Outside the Lines had something about blowing out your opponent in game 1 of the WS, and it not being historically beneficial. I didn't get to hang around to watch it though.
An excerpt from an article at MLB.com:
That being said, three of the four teams that lost the most lopsided first games were able to win the Series. The Dodgers lost, 11-0, to the White Sox in 1959 and went on to win in six games. The Brewers knocked out the Cardinals, 10-0, in 1982 and lost the series in seven. And the 1996 Yankees -- who lost Game 1, 12-1, to the Braves -- lost Game 2 (also at Yankee Stadium), but came back to win the next four and the series in six games.
Only the 1987 Twins, who clubbed the Cardinals, 10-1, in Game 1, went on to win the series in seven games.

So winning by 10+ runs in game 1 has actually led to losing the series, not winning it.

Funny reading people's justifications as to why the Rockies will win now that they are down 2-0.
Hot streak or not, you have to take into account that the Red Sox have been there before. They came out in game 1 ready to play with no distractions. The Rockies looked like little kids and got caught up in the moment. I still hope the Rockies win, but I think now they lose in 5.

I really think the Rockies got screwed by the layoff. Never (in baseball) do you have an 8 day layoff when your opponent doesn't. Look at the Tigers last year. They came in to the World Series and had to wait for the Cardinals -- then the Cardinals blasted them.
I hope the Rockies can tie it up at home... hopefully, for them, Ortiz can't play because of his knee and we can see this game get tied up 2-2....

Youkilis is going to sit game three ( I would have sat Lowell, or moved Lowell to short and sat Lugo--yes Lowell can play short). :wow:
