Before the game a close techie friend of mine called and tried to start some friendly smack talk. He was disappointed when I agreed with him on everything and said the game just wouldn't be fun this year because there would be no smack talk. I apologized and said that I would fain hope so that he could enjoy the game.
I was not looking forward to the game and really didn't have any hope for it to be competitive. This of course changed after the first series when we made the stop. I sent a text message telling my buddy to watch out the defense showed up and it may be a fun game. He responded by saying he was nervous. I truly got into the game after our first offensive series and another stop. Whoop! This is actually going to be an exciting game.
Somehow, the team was able to rekindle my interest and I allowed myself to care whether we won or lost. AS SOON as I made that switch, we missed the field goal. Things went downhill from there. My buddy called during the second quarter and said thanks for trying and he is sorry that the game couldn't be more fun for both of us. :(
In typical fashion...I prepared myself so that I wouldn't be distraught only to be pulled into the game, made to care, and then hugely let down. No matter what I do, my spirits will be low after a Fran game. Anyone else have the same thing happen?
