View Full Version : How I felt watching the game

I anxiously woke up early this morning, called DirecTV and paid my $15 to get Gameday for today. I peacefully watched the game from start to finish, minus a few minutes at the beginning, because another game was running late and they won't cut to another game. Anyway, for the first time ever, I sat peacefully through the whole thing, I never once raised my voice, didn't throw things, nothing I just watched. I love Texas A&M and it hurts me profoundly when they lose, hell it ruins my week, the wife know to stay away from me. For the first time ever, I just watched. It is a sad thing, because what I saw is what I had expected! Please don't miscontrue what I'm saying, I am not saying I wanted them to lose, that is just wrong, all I'm saying is that what I saw did not surprise me, not in the least. Sad day.

my wife left mid-way through the second quarter...because I was so pissed...

when we fumbled the punt...I about turned inside out...seriously, can we get someone who can catch a punt & have an eye/instinct for when to make a fair catch?...just one example

btw...I had to pay $20 for ESPN Gameplan.

NOTE: I don't usually get too animated (daughter watching, blood pressure, etc)...but this was TECH!!! I wanted this soo bad...it hurt.

I also DVR'd it & watched it tonight (we bought a new car today & it took ALL afternoon)...

I love J-train just as much as the next Aggie...(save loftin ;) )...I just wish he would shut the hell up...

if/when we don't perform up to his comments...it makes us (and him) look ridiculously stupid.

I don't know when or how I'm going to work through this anger. I am beyond mad; I'm beyond disgusted. Yet, I feel totally helpless. I left the house during the half and couldn't even turn on the radio. I already knew what the end result would be. It just sucks to wait all year for football season, knowing we have the ability to be really good. Then, this . . . .

Right now, I just don't think I can get back up and care again. Even the thought of going to the Kansas game (something I would normally eagerly anticipate) doesn't appeal to me. I'm just plain tired of the whole mess. I can't imagine how our players are feeling, and that hurts even worse.

I'm still going up to OU, but that trip could turn out to be pretty miserable =/ At least i'll have some non-football fun, heh.

By the way, I really hope that Fran just locks his ego up and hands the ball off every single play next week. I'm tired of something working and then all of a sudden we decide to open up the offense. I know it's "smarter" football, but it's just not working. I don't wanna to become apathetic, but it's getting there. It was like watching a little cousin's/son/brother/little kid's game where the team was just getting killed and you felt like the volunteer coach was an idiot, but you keep telling yourself that it's just a game and they're just kids having fun out there so there's no need to get riled up. Bleh, I don't care, just get us a new coach so we can have some excitement in the program again.

Don\'t be bad mouthing anyone man, once we win one (1) more game the Fran crowd of \"keep him as coach\" will come out against you. Kinda reminds me of the hippy SF attitude.

I felt frustrated at several things....

1) at the defense.... With the D'Line... when A&M rushed 4 the pressure was there & we almost had sacks... instead we wind up going with 2 or 3 rushers & get picked apart.... With the 2ndary & LB's... no one ever went for the ball when tackling... everyone was happy just holding they guy... also no one except for Gorrer on 1 play tried to jump the ball... Darnell called a horrible game & did nothing to build off of last year's 2nd half or what he was able to do in the 2nd half against oSu who scored point for point against ttu & just blasted NU.....

2) The offense.... McGee, God bless his heart tried his best & did all he could, but the O'Line let us down.... I can't believe how bad the run blocking was... I mean wow... I can't believe how inconcistent they have played this year.... Goodson, McGee, & Lane all had to make moves behind the line of scrimmage.... McGee had trouble with some passes when WR's were open & the WR's didn't make the best of decisions on some plays also.... Fran & Les laid goose eggs going to a passing game too early in the 2nd quarter.... They should have stayed in the eye formation, but then again.... like I said the O'Line wasn't doing much to keep their confidence up.... But I blame the majority of this loss on Fran.....

3) The special teams..... All I can say is aside from our punter... our special teams are anything but special.... Franks has had a few good returns this year... but was unable to do much against ttu.... JP needs to be replaced as the punt returner & I still think Goodson is the one to do it... JMO.... Matt needs to be pulled... I like the kid, but geez.... I am sure any of our players on scholarship could kick just a bit better....

Mezentius

The defense looked shell shocked as always. I seriously do not think it's the players. They look athletic but hamstrung by the overall conservative nature of this team.

I thought the O Line did a pretty good job, I mean after all we averaged what..6 yards a play in the first half? The second half? Well I agree with everyone else...we went away from what was working.

Special teams were uninspiring...the punt return game was weak as always. What more needs to be said about Szamanski's performance...it stunk.

We're looking at a .500 record at this point if we're lucky.

no one ever went for the ball when tackling... everyone was happy just holding they guy... also no one except for Gorrer on 1 play tried to jump the ball...

And not to mention Gorrer failed to make the play. It should've been a pick-6 which might have swung momentum. But instead, it goes through his hands, right to the Tech receiver for a first down... We blocked the field goal on that drive, but the field position (and possibly points) was the major difference....

That TD we should have had coupled with with the 2 FG's we missed & the Ags would have had a chance going into the 4th Quarter....

The score would have been 21-20 going into the 4th just with those points on the board..... instead of 21-7.....

There is really nothing I can add that hasn't already been said. It is just very disappointing to watch our performance. Managing only 7 points to a tceh team that is notorious for giving up big numbers and having to purely outscore their opponent is sad. Allowing a QB to put up the numbers they put up is sickening.

For the first time ever in my life, I was not pissed that we lost. Sure, I was dissapointed, but I was not mad. Its weird. Normally after any loss, I'm fired up and pissed for a LONG time, lose sleep at night, etc. After our game was over, I calmly changed the channel, played with my boys, and had a normal Saturday evening. I guess it was just the firm realization that no matter what happens from here on out, we'll have a new coaching staff next year. It was also the first time that I can definitely say that I will be 100% happy that we will be getting a new coach.

I felt pretty much the same way. Just resigned to the idea that our program is not as good as Tech's. I mean--that IS the truth. They have caught us in talent--if this isn't the case then it's the coaching--but of course that can't be since there's so many who still believe in this coach (I do not, but there's still some who feel this need to keep Fran)? I don't know about facilities. I don't think they have the size of our fan base or have as much deep pockets. However, as far as perception goes-- Tech is the better program.

At what point do we stop and say enough is enough. Our program is not good. When you get beat down like we do to teams that are our equivalent or better---it's time to make a change--isn't it?

I watched Saturday and just accepted it.. watched the whole game--- and didn't get upset just accepted it because guess what? This is what Fran will continue to bring us--beat the bad teams lose to the better than average teams. This is painful to watch our program sink like the titanic... it really is.

Our facilities are way better than Tceh's. Our coach gets paid lots more as well, although Leach will be at fran levels by 2010.

We just need a coach, not a calculator, running the team.

I gotta think that part of the OL's problem was losing Yoder to the apparent leg/knee injury. Tech started attacking that side of the line with blitzes immediately after that, and the results were obvious. I'm with you though on where the blame should be: on the coach. I love watching this team play no matter what the score is; for the most part they play with a lot of heart. Wish the coach could catch up to their determination. :undecided:

Its a little thing called self control and dignity. It is easy to get mad and throw things and scream and shout like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum. Adults are expected to have more self control than that, especially in public. Throwing a beer at a tv screen in public and cursing at people is immature and childish...period. I get plenty mad about how bad our coaches are. But I control myself and don't show my ass in public about it.

Ouch once again. Actually I have 2 degrees from TAMU and current work here. If you think you can hurt me by insulting California you really need to think harder. I really get a kick out of people who get that mad over a game. I used to be one of those people with Aggie sports. Then I realized that people no longer wanted to be around me when I was that way so I changed.

If you can't control your anger over a GAME, then you really need to rethink your priorities.

And by the way nice stereotype of California. Have you ever been to California or are you just jumping on anything to try and insult me?

Either way it didn't work, I actually think stereotyping Californians is quite funny, kind of like stereotyping Texans as being all being redneck hillbillies who all own horses and cattle and dip and marry their sister.

If you really don't think Californians like college football and don't really pay attention then you are going to be really pissed when someone tells you that the CAL team that kicked the **** out of us last year was actually from CALIFORNIA. Does it make you more angry that a team from a state that supposedly doesn't care about football beat the crap out of your team?

Quite frankly it made me laugh because I had gotten off the franwagon long before
that.

And after all this I still believe that if you are throwing stuff at OTHER peoples property that could possible break it then you are childish and need to grow up.

Not intenteded to insult anyone, just trying to reword my orginal post.

Say your're driving to the most important event in your life and you run out of gas, no matter how hard you press on the gas pedal it isn't going to change a damn thing, that DOES NOT mean you didn't want to get there. Now matter how bad I want Texas A&M to win, and believe me I want them to win bad, getting mad and throwing a temper tantrum isn't going to all of a sudden make Coach Fran coach better. Sort of like spinning your wheels in mud, pointless you aren't going anywhere. Making the extrapolation that someone doesn't care about Texas A&M simply because we aren't pissed off or because one is female vs male is wrong. Kind of like the difference between education and ignorance. I don't expect some on this thread to understand where I'm comimg from but I think the majority can follow my train of thought.
