They played #1 Copperas Cove this weekend and I couldn't believe when I read this
The Lions (5-1, 1-0 in 16-4A) frustrated Copperas Cove (5-1, 0-1) — which had averaged 44 points per game and allowed just eight in non-district action — from start to finish. Brownwood was even able to get inside the head of the Bulldawgs’ potential all-state quarterback Robert Griffin, who was ejected in the first quarter.
Griffin was tossed during Cove’s second possession following his second pass attempt at the 4:50 mark of the first period. Griffin was flattened by middle linebacker Jordan Longoria as he released the pass and was driven to the ground. After taking a while to get up, Griffin was flagged for a pair of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties as he first chunked his helmet, then got in the face of an official.
