View Full Version : Is Dennis gone no matter what?

I recently decided that Dennis is fired no matter what. Even if we go 13-1 I feel like BB is done with Dennis for good. He will not be coming back to coach in 2008.
Question: Even if we go 13-1 with a BCS bowl win, do you believe that Dennis will be fired?
Personally, yes

My biggest fear is that we win maybe one or two games before the end of the season, Fran gets fired, and JJ, Lane, McGee, Money-B, most of our top recruits, hell maybe even Goodson, all decide to leave as well. Then not only are we rebuilding with a new coach, but we will also have a very bare cupboard starting from scratch just like in 2002. Good God this season has become a nightmare.

didn't that happen to some degree (save braun) with Petrino & Louisville?

No he wont..... he broke the trust of BB and that is not taken lightly.... and personally I just came to the realization... I love being an Aggie and I want my head football coach to reflect what an Aggie is and you know the phrase.....
Aggies dont lie, cheat, or steal and do not tolerate those who do. That also goes for someone disgracing this university!

I thnk the only thing that could possibly save his job is winning the Big XII and winning a BCS bowl. Even then, I think he's still on the cusp and he may have to renegotiate his contract.
If he gets canned, the best he could possibly do is be a coordinator or maybe a HC at some small school.

BB called this situation "embarrassing" and fully disclosed all details in this incident. He fired McKenzie, and when asked if he was just a fall guy for doing what his boss (Fran) told him to do, BB responded that this will be a part of Fran's performance review.
BB has said on several occasions that he won't make a coaching change midseason, and while I don't necessarily agree with it, he will stick to his guns and wait.
Right now it looks like BB is setting everything up so that we won't have to pay Fran the whole buyout. The findings of the internal investigation made no bones about pinning this on Fran. BB publicly "admonished" Fran, described this situation as "embarrassing," and self-reported NCAA violations related to this. If BB publicly supports Fran, while compiling screw-ups by Fran that could be against his contract, then Fran may walk out of Aggieland empty handed.

I just have a bad feeling that if we win out Byrne and the big cigars will take the wins over the embarrassment and keep him.

From what I understand, the BMA's don't have the influence over BB to make him do whatever they want. BB will make the final decision

Pretty much.... BB does what he wants, not what other people want... he did that at Nebraska & is doing it here....

I think right now, the easy thing is to say Fran is gone (because everything is fresh). Now that the press conference happened, this is going to be old news in 3 weeks (especially if A&M keeps winning).
There's an old addage that says "WINNING CURES ALL" and I still think that holds true. If Fran wins out, nobody will be talking e-mail scandal. They'll be talking BCS Bowl and the future of A&M football.
Byrne understands football is the money making machine at A&M and to fire Fran, especially after a 13-1 season, would go against everything Byrne (AKA $ Bill) has done to this point.
With that said, I'm not sure we have the team to do this, so it's probably a safe bet that Fran is gone. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Fran stays if the 1% chance of going 13-1 actually happens.

Future results guarantee Fran's status. Win 10 and he stays. 9 maybe. 8 or less no.

His players blatantly defied him at the end of the Holiday Bowl. He called for a victory formation and they went for the TD.
We need someone who has control of his players.

it's an easy call now that the tceh debacle is over....I dont know whether i'm happier to see him leave or Darnell...My 9 yr olds have better tackling form than the Aggie D....

That's been the motto of teams against us all season, throw the short pass, or run the draw, we can't pressure, cover or come off blocks to make tackles. Oh well, hopefully whoever the new coach brings in as D Coordinator will teach fundamentals of football.

Tech hasn't changed at all since Leach got there. They don't beat you when they catch the ball, they beat you after they catch the ball. Our defense has had a confused, "deer in the headlights" look every year since '03.
You'd think Fran would have them figured out by now. Stoops and Brown do...

1. thats frans fault we dont have the same speed on D.
2. the key to beating tech is getting pressure with your front 3 or 4. we did that a little the first 2 drives and were somewhat successful defending them.

1. You beat TTU by putting pressure on Harrell. In our last 2 trips to Lubbock, we've lined up in a 3-3-5(today) or 1-10(2005) defense.
2. Fran is responsible for recruiting our talent. This roster is 100% Fran recruits. If the cupboard is bare, it's because he didn't stock it.

Dennis is gone. He sucks at calling plays, sucks at preparing for games (especially), sucks at hiring a good coaching staff, sucks at using our talent and he's a weak little weasel of a man. Couldn't be man enough to face his players at TCU or Alabama and also had his little VIP newsletter secret. He's pathetic...
Even if we lose McGee, Goodson and Money-B (gone no matter what), we are in better shape.. if we have a new coach...
Lastly, I don't care how aggressively you argue with me about recruiting. Dennis wasn't as good as someone else I can assure will be.
PS: Next time I'll let you know how I really feel.
There is no way you can be this mediocre and coach at the highest levels of college football.

Should we start watching for the flights into and out of Easterwood (http://flightaware.com/). Anyone know the A&M tail number.
I don't think they would be interviewing coaches directly at this point since the season is still going on. They might talk through "back channels" with associates and such. I don't think we need to watch planes just yet.
