Okay here is a thread by Brandon explaining the situation:
http://texags.com/main/forum.reply.asp?topic_id=980632&forum_id=5
Somebody help me understand this, not accusing just want to understand. Look at the orginal email, it is from someone at coachfran.com to Brandon and it reads
"Mike there was a guy on TexAgs....."
and Brandon says the following
"This was the first I had heard of such a newsletter and, to be honest, I didn’t think anything of it. ..."
So I would have assumed that something along the line of
Hello Brandon can you help us on this.... or Brandon. we need your help on this....
instead it just says Mike.... and it is signed by Joe???? Doesn't even acknowledge Brandon other that it obviously has been emailed to him.
I guess to me it seems like this is the middle of a conversation that was already ongoing.
As an example: Let's say that Vlyrock doesn't know me at all and I need his help on something but I write the following and email it to him
Dustin, there was a poster on Aggiefans that mentioned this injury and it was labeled "Who is injured". I'm hope that helps Pflug.
Pflugerville.
And Vly gets this, wouldn't his first reaction be WTF? Huh? what are you talking about?
I guess something just doesn't seem right to me.

Also, the explanation provided for the original email is that Brandon "assumed" it was from MM.
So in second email, the response, he just writes back like he knows its MM, starts of
Mike.......
I guess if I didn't know or wasn't sure, I'd of said Mike, if this is you, or something along those lines.
Maybe it is just me reading to much into it?
Edited to add this: Someone explain to me where in the "original email" there is an request for help on this matter yet in the second email, the response, there is an obvious attempt to help. Do you all see why I think this is the middle of a conversation, not the start of one? I'm sure I'm missing something what is it?

Ha, ha :rep: I had to return the favor. Seriously though, I wrote that example because the orginal email on the explanation thread seems so out of the blue for me. I guess that is why I have the impression that it is the middle of a conversation. It it was me that owned the site and I got that email, I'd be like wtf! and I understand that Brandon and MM had emailed previously, it's just that the explantion provided indicates that this is the first he had EVER heard about the subject (VIP), but I guess I gleam from the email trail that he knew what they were taking about or it wasn't unexpected. I know others reading this thread will take it the wrong way and thing I'm just adding to the pile, but I really just want to understand, I just don't buy that email trail, it seems likely that there were previous one's. I'd welcome anyone that could rationally explain to me what I'm missing.

None of this makes sense, but all these conspiracy theories are right up my alley. The crazy thing is, I usually have to come up with them, but in this situation, they have a mind of their own. Keep it up guys, this is making me happier than a puppy with two peters.

Okay you all are making me feel better because I felt stupid posting this questions, b/c I was thinking you must not be getting something, but in reading the responses it seems I'm not the only one that is going:huh:

It's funny because I see his train of thought being focused on the injury piece and all the time MM is trying to squash the VIP leak (using the injury as an excuse).
I have no doubts that what's his nuts in SA saw the original 97 thread and did some digging. No doubts that multiple boosters probably were loose with this info and invariably one or more leaked it.
If MM had just let it go, it probably dies. Or if he let's Brandon know what this is about and asks him to remove the post then it dies. Instead his paranoia causes the whole ship to sink.

Yeah I noticed that yesterday in the original emails in pdf form. I asked a few times about jumping into the middle of a conversation, but nobody ever responded. The posts on TA that aren't being deleted are picking up on it.
I GUARANTEE that there were some phone calls involved in the situation. Of course since MM wasn't using an A&M server for his work he probably wasn't using a state cellphone either. That means those records haven't been included.
I forget where it was but at some point brandon also mentioned that he knew of the newsletter "several weeks" (or a few weeks or something like that) before the story broke to the media.
With the number of people involved in receiving the newsletter I am actually shocked that BB didn't know about it. I mean he wasn't the least bit curious where the money for the tent came from or he just assumed fran was paying for it. I don't claim to know the inner workings of major D1 athletics but it really does amaze me. I want to be clear that I am not accusing BB of knowing I am just amazed he didn't.
And for the record I think it is getting harder and harder for BB to keep farn under any circumstances at the end of the season. I believe that a big reason for not firing him now is that everything needs to be nice a tidy for the buyout clause in his contract to be voided, especially with the amount of money we are talking about.

Cal hit it on the head in the last part there...trust has been broken.
I think on the tent piece...the vast majority of the folks in said pavillion of booster grandeur were not VIP subscribers....23 or so known subscribers, but a couple hundred folks in the tent.
You have to think of A&M athletics as a huge corporation with various divisions....you know big picture things and certain details, but some of the smaller moving parts you simply can't know them all...though you should know more about Football than anything given its scope.

there is no question whether brandon is feeding TA a load of :bs:
it's almost considered to be fact

We'll never know the whole story but I think many people would figure he's lying/bsing regardless of the circumstances.
There is no way to satisfy anyone here. Everyone is looking to burn fran for doing this and everyone is looking to burn folks for not stopping it.
Everyone ends up with a dollop of Frantastic cess on their shirts from this one.

Hey Cal, for the record I agree with your last sentence. I think he is gone even if we win out. I'm not saying that is good or bad, although I will admit that it wouldn't bother me to see him replaced. That aside, I think this is a situation where so much water has flowed under the bridge that it is not repairable. The damage is done and I think the powers that be recognize that. I just don't see him coming back. Stark contrast between his "Byrne supports me" comments and the actual Byrne comments which weren't supportive IMHO.
