The Toronto Argonauts Football Club has added former Texas A&M star QB Reggie McNeal to the club's practice roster.

To a CFL practice roster :wow:

Hopefully he will make the team and get some substantial field time, which will help him get back in the NFL. Good luck Reggie.

A hard dose of humility helps some people mature and I hope that's the case for Reggie. On the flipside, he could just be the type who's happy to have a job playing and getting a paycheck for it, no matter how small. Let's hope for the best for the sake of his family.

Sounds like they are going to try him at QB.

He doesn't need Viagra. Just mention the word Reggie and he is stiff as a board for the rest of the day.

So he goes to the CFL as a QB. Excellent! Let him play his real position and Reggie should excel. Whoever compared him to Warren Moon was right (though Reggie was a better college QB than Moon and is definitely more athletic).

McNeal said he decided to accept Argos' offer because they wanted him as a quarterback.

I'm a quarterback at heart, he said.

With Damon Allen expected to retire after this season, McNeal will be competing for the job behind starter Michael Bishop next year.

He went to Blinn and supposedly couldn't get into A&M. Went to KSU and did great

I think I remember the Pats drafting him & it just didn't work out.... I think he tried 1 or 2 other teams & then went CFL....

Gonna be interesting to see the 2 Big XII QB's duke it out for the Starting Spot....

Loftin, besides being black QBs that played in the CFL, Reggie and Moon have very little in common.

Moon was a running QB, right??

Reggie does offer the dual-threat that Moon didn't. The similarity is that they're both black QBs who were outstanding in college, yet snubbed by the NFL.

Wow, that sure is open for discussion. First of all, neither were "outstanding in college." Warren Moon had one good season for Washington and was only 21-13 as a starter. Not outstanding by any means. Also, I think getting "snubbed" by the NFL would mean not getting drafted at all. Moon was snubbed. Reggie was drafted and could not cut it. He was not snubbed, he was given his shot and failed.

Don't give me crap about him not playing his natural position either. NFL coaches, execs, and scouts know a tad more about talent than me or you ever will. If he can't cut it at WR and noone wants to give him his shot at QB, that should tell you something.

Tony Romo was snubbed too...and he made it on an NFL team...

I seriously hope Reggie does well in Canada...:gig:

Wins and losses are a team stat, not a personal one. Nobody said that Mario Williams was a bad DE because NC State sucked. Why should it be different for QBs? Like I've said before on another thread, black QBs who are branded as "athletes" by the NFL need to at least go to a BCS bowl to get to play their real position.

Which is why he didn't need a BCS bowl to get drafted. Not all black QBs are branded as "athletes."
