Game Saturday...thoughts on Baylor anyone?
I think we'll either win by 40 or win by 1 or 2. Tough to tell this year.

Frankly, I will just take a win as a win these days.

I really WANT a win...a BIG win...
I want it for our players...for the fans who still believe in our team...and to motivate the coaches to do better to coach to our players strengths...
I just want to play well (and WIN) on National TV this year...I'm tired of being embarrassed on national TV...

From a certain perspective, you could argue that it is in Fran's best interest to NOT win big.
If he starts winning games big, then expectations go up again, possibly another big let down, and then more and more people start saying, "That's it, I've had it!"
On the other hand, if he is only winning by say two scores (so out of reach somewhat), then nobody expects too much, and if we do beat one of the big boys, it is more of an upset, and therefore a bigger deal, more publicity, etc... At the same time, if we lost to one of the big boys, well, no big surprise because we were "barely" getting by the other teams.
Just midnight ramblings....

I honestly can't see us losing this game. Unless Fran does some really stupid plays, or totally doesn't prepare our guys. Baylor is so bad, we have a quality set of athletes and we're playing at Kyle Field. J-Train should roll. Give him the ball. Also, Baylor coach Guy Morris doesn't sound so cocky this year. I think he knows his tenure at BU is done... And he knows we'll kick his booty.

baylor was bad the last time we lost to them and we were having big expectations for the year. :(

But see, that is the problem. I would agree with you, but then you have to apply the Fran-factor. We have no reason to assume that J-Train will really get the ball enough to matter. Who is to say that next week it won't be Martellus that gets shorted on the action. If you consider all our players and talent, then yes, should be all toooo easy. The problem is, we can no longer count on that.

I think the big thing is if we play back and give the slants or try and take that away...Szymanski had some success against lowly buffalo but that could get him confident. I don't know anything about their o-line but we need to hit him early.

I have never seen a year like this. So early and so goofy. Michigan, Notre Dame, Auburn, Louisville, Kentucky, etc., etc. Tennessee is ranked last in the SEC in rushing and at the bottom in passing defense. :wow:
On paper Aggies win big. :undecided: But who has a clue this year.

Not saying that Baylor couldn't do it, but weren't the big deep passes from Miami off of play action? I doubt that Baylor will be able to run like Miami, so I'm hoping that we won't see a repeat of that.

Baylor has an awesome passing game, compared to the Aggies. I have a feeling that the Baptist may beat us , but it will be close. I'm getting a feeling that perhaps the team is in dissarray. Perhaps the wind has been knocked out of our sails.
I'd love it if we won, but i'm starting to get a really bad feeling about the rest of this season.
What is worse is the next two games. I watched the O.S.U vs tceh game. Both teams will destroy our secondary.

I get the sense that the team has circled the wagon...they have taken an us against the world mentality. Given how physical they can be I see them really putting the millstone on some teams the next few weeks.

Sums up my feelings pretty much.
A close win (or...ech...a clsoe loss) over Gaylor does nothing for our team, except make them wonder even more where they really stand. It's a W, they'll take it, but it will answer no questions, going into the okie lite game coming up.
A big win would indicate things are back on track...at least for a week anyway. we need it. We need to go back to our strengths, and prove we can win with them instead using them for decoys. fran needs to shopw the kids he can put a rational game plan together, and then the kids need to go out there and EXECUTE.
As a side note, a clsoe game for Gaylor, even if they lose, is a moral victory for them. More of thet "we were hangin' with the bog boys" crap for them to gloat about. I'd prefer we crush them and put big doubts about their season in their heads, and widen the gap.

what does this statement even say about the outcome of the game? doesn't seem like anything. we prolly won't need to pass much to win this game and baylor having a better passing game than us isn't saying much at this point.

50 to 0? You fellas might be setting yourself up for a big disappointment, don't you think? What have you seen by either team that would lead you to believe that is a realistic possibility? Not gonna happen. This is not the Baylor team that Guy Morriss inherited from Kevin Steele that allowed that 73-10 massacre in 2003. So, what is a more realistic type game to expect? How can you measure your team and coach if you don't have realistic expectations?
I would be shocked if Baylor beat A&M by a wide margin. Any Baylor victory will be close. A&M might get over their sickness and execute perfectly and win by a wider margin than expected, and by that I mean 2 TD's.
Lots of folks thought Buffalo would upset Baylor in NY, but these sports experts were wrong. So the spread out of vegas is 17 point now, in favor of A&M. Do you believe that? One would think it would reflect the calibre of play in last week's games. A&M was terrible. But, how good was Baylor?
I wonder if they took into consideration that Baylor was playing without their best offensive linemen in Jason Smith, who was injured in the first game of the year against TCU. He will be in the starting lineup against A&M. Plus, our best young receiver Brad Taylor didn't make the trip. He is back for A&M. One of our better receivers, Thomas White, a speed demon, missed the last two games. He is back for A&M. One of our starting DE's, Geoff Nelson didn't make the trip to Buffalo, but he is back for A&M.
And, that is the key to the game. A&M's depth. It shouldl help Baylor to have all these players back to offset one of A&M's strengths.
I expect A&M to comeout with lots of emotion. They will be trying to win two games at once, Miami and Baylor. But, Miami is in the history books, and this mentality could hurt A&M by forcing early turnovers. Should Baylor score early, the crowd at Kyle is not going to be very happy or patient. A&M will need to run, run, and run successfully to get ahead of Baylor. Baylor gonna bomb hell out of A&M. The Bears are loaded with good, big, quick, small, fast receivers, who can catch. Best in years.
Based on the last 3 years, I don't see either team giving up. I think the game will be decided by that old category of turnover margin.
I think and hope it will be a very competitive contest. I am not sure who will win, based on all the emotion that surrounds the Fran football program. We will all know the answer by Saturday afternoon. Good luck.

Realbear...good post.
No Aggie in their right mind thinks that we win 50-0. We might score 50, but we couldn't shut out a HS team right now. Of course I'm hoping for a blowout, but I just haven't seen antyhing from our team this year to feel that its a possibility right now.
I think this is going to be a very interesting game. I think Baylor scores quickly on big plays with the passing game and A&M scores slowly by moving the ball with the run game. So, TOP should be way in favor of the Ags, but the score could be close.

I appreciate your post, but give me a break. You are talking about a team that many people have ranked as 119th in the nation. Talk about match-ups. Talk about the attitude change that Morrissssss has given this team. But, please, don't come over here talking about Buffalo.
Your receivers aren't the best in years. You lose Zeigler, you lose it all.
Vegas knows more than you & I. That was the thing that scared me about our game last week....the freaking line. This week, they obviously know who the better team is.
BTW, Congrats on making Maxim. #7 Worst BCS team in college football. Mabye if Morrissss stays another year, y'all can knock Duke outta the #1 spot.

citing beating BUFFALO as a reference on how this team has turned a corner (beat the vegas odds)...isn't very relevant in my mind...but whatever you have to do...
I agree that the past two years have been closer games & Baylor gets keyed up for A&M...and we should ALSO come into this game with a belly full of fire...which is where I think we may have lacked in the past...
Good luck on Saturday & hopefully there will be no major or life threatening injuries!!! :gig:

Didn't realize I was limited to not talking about Baylor's last opponent. They put 24 pts on Penn St the week before. They were at home for the first time this year and were hoping to trap a Big 12 team, but Baylor didn't allow it. Hey, I loved Zeigler, he was the biggest aggie killer I have ever seen. Never understood how he did that well against A&M but rarely against any other opponent in that same overwhelming manner.
You will see the performance of the Baylor receiving corp soon enough. Judge them yourself. David Gettis, Brad Taylor, Justin Fenty, Justin Akers, Thomas White and Kris Buerck will be scampering down Kyle Field soon enough. They are all very young and may drop a few, but in the end, they will do fine.
I have no clue about your statement about Maxim. It would be hard to imagine a team that is 3-1 being classified in the worst 10. Hey, lots of folks have varying opinions about stuff, and they can't all be right. So, if you believe it, go to the game and measure your team against the #7 worst BCS team in the nation, if that makes you feel better.
Vegas lines are set based on how they can get betters to put 50% money on either side of the teams. They want the money to be balanced and they want to earn the juice. Most of the time these boys are way off on final scores. If you don't believe me, try using those lines as gospel and betting real money with bookies. You will lose a lot of money given enough time.

What happens when you lose 34 lettermen from a 4-8 team? That’s right: You suck! Victory took a restraining order out against Baylor in last season’s final four games, as the Bears didn’t come within 150 yards of a win. Maybe losing the top rusher from a 40-yards-a-game ground attack is a good thing.

Real Football talk:
A&M is bad right now on defense. Really bad.
Baylor is bad in every aspect of the game. Really bad.
Aggie players are certainly affected by the situation with our coach. How they react to that situation while on the field will drastically affect the final score.
