Look at the last three years....
2004 - OT Loss
2005 - 3 point OT win
2006 - 10 point win with 7 points at the very end to seal a very tight game
Now I ask you, why shouldn't they be optimistic? We have had a huge talent advantage every year. However, that has not translated to on the field success.
I agree this game should not be close, but history says otherwise.....

Not sure I follow your logic on tu / ou.
I am not agreeing with them. Just saying that if I was the habitual underdog and had played with the big boys for 3 straight years I would be optimistic (delusional) as well. Especially given our recent problems.

The article doesn't really go w/ the headline. It doesn't really mention anything about the comparison of the two teams other than the blowout 4 years back and the fact that the Bears get up for the game. Kinda forgets the close games in the past three years. Or just assumes that the kids in Waco all know that.

Over on Gaylorfans.com, home of the "meet a chubby gay bear fan!" advertisement, they think the "field is level". GuyMo is making sarcasstic comments about us "supposedly" being one of the big boys, etc. At least this year he wasn't stupid enough to predict a B12 South cahmpionship or even a bowl appearance.
For many reasons, they need to be trounced Saturday, and good. The gap needs to be widened again. With them feeling like a close loss to us is a moral victory, it's time to re-establish their position as the B12 South cellar dwellers.
They need to get on the us to Wacko knowing they've been beaten down.

Judging by the last 4 years we they seem to be almost even if you only look at the outcome of the baylor-A&M games. Looking at how the coaching staff seems to handicap our team with play calling, it is getting much closer than I would like it to be.

New poster here, and having lurked on this site as well as Texags, i'm in agreement with the article.
Let's be honest here, what have the Fran led Aggies done in the last 5 years to make us an overwelming favorite. We are nowhere near the class of the Big XII.
I'm not rooting for Baylor, nor am I rooting for Fran. I've been listening to 790am here in Houston, and from 2000 on to now, the Aggies have not finished in the top 25, there are 55 other schools that have,
One way to possibly save his job is to, now brace yourself Burnetaggie, is to start Jerrod Johnson.
Last week John Lopez referred to your boy McGee as our Chance Mauck. Again I am in agreeance here. Put Johnson in and let's see what happens.

What is so funny about that. All the talking heads here in Houston are saying this, i'm pretty sure they know more about football than the participants on this site, including myself.
In the last 7 years Mack Brown has never not finished in the top 25.
Something to think about. Put in Johnson. A good coach would do it, or perhaps a desperate coach.

From $Bill's Wednesday talk.
First thing I want to talk about is the game at Miami. I heard from a lot of you who said you were embarrassed and angry. And so were all of us. No one liked what we saw last Thursday night.
We've asked you to buy into the program, and many of you have done so. That's why the game in Miami hurt so much.
But you're not the only ones hurting. The players are hurting. The coaches are hurting. The athletic staff is hurting. The lockerroom after the game was painful - physically, mentally, and emotionally.
A few have written that you'll never come to another game. I hope that was just the frustration speaking because we have eight more tough conference games left. Baylor is coming to town this Saturday, and they'd like nothing more than to come to Kyle Field and out-score the Aggies. They don't very often, but they think we are vulnerable—and without you we are. We need you at Kyle and in full voice. Please hang in there with your fellow Aggies when they need you most.
What some want me to say....
I've heard a plenty about how our coaches are evaluated. In fact, some want me to fire everyone right now. That's not the best way to conduct business. My process remains the same – we never discuss a coach's evaluation until the season is over, regardless of the sport.
That's how it's been in the five football seasons that we have been here, and throughout my career. It won't change now.
Another bad part of the Miami game
Issues of crowd behavior in Miami need to be addressed, on both sides. We learned that the actions of some fans from both schools necessitated the police escorting them out of the Orange Bowl. That reminded me of why I'm glad we don't serve beer at sports events.
The Orange Bowl is a city operation and beer was available. While I enjoy a cold brew myself, I don't condone over-serving fans and allowing them to get out of control.
One of the many things I love about going to games at Kyle Field is it makes me proud how well we treat each other and our opponents.
Reading between the lines, a change is coming.

wouldn't a good coach put in the qb that gives his team the best chance to win? or would a good coach put in a freshman qb to appease some "talking heads"?
for the record, before i piss myself from laughing so hard....do you think Johnson gives us a better shot to win a game than McGee and THAT is why fran should let him start? OR do you think that fran should let Johnson start to appease "talking heads"?
and ANOTHER QUESTION...do you think fran is making up the stuff about JJ not being ready to play with a game on the line?
ANOTHER ONE...could you explain JJ's passing efforts during practice, during games, and his consistency.

A "happy" McGee is a winning McGee, not just a McGee that is getting snaps and losing. JJ overthrew a wide-open Tarrant in th eleft flat just before the Hail Marry pass - he ain't perfect. McGee, or JJ, or Brett Favre, none would do well with the crappy game plan they had against Miami.

I'll try to not be negative, but after Miami, it's kind of hard to be happy about the state of Aggie football.
Everything however i've been reading regarding the program isn't that great, I was hoping with the current team and talent that we would be 4-0. I'm not expecting us to break 6 wins this season, and that's just an honest opinion.

Jerrod Johnson as a change of pace ala Perriloux at LSU, but he's not ready to be an every down QB...

I think the rules are different for guys and girls on this one. Girls generally speaking can say and get away with things in a confrontation that guys simply can't without inciting physical violence....I mean I don't don't know many dudes that would fight a woman at a stadium...but I know a ton of guys that would fight other guys.
I am not a crap talker...never have been. I go to games, yell for the team and go home. I don't use profanity (much..I try to refrain for the little ones around me) but I simply can't stand hooligans who throw crap especially when they hit my wife with it...sets me off...I know this so I stay away from Lubbock and other such venues.
That being said I've been to Norman and Stillwater and have never had a problem other than some various smack talking which doesn't bother me at all.

yea i know its different but this man and his son (which was the saddest part) prob would have pulled that kinda crap if the parent didnt get involved. miami guy knew if he threw something he'd had some serious issues with the parent

player parent?
That's another piece of fan behavior that I just don't get...I was at a hotel bar several years ago and Major Applewhite's parents were staying at the hotel and were having drinks with what I assume is another tu player's parents.
I mean they were drinking a beer and enjoying quiet conversation in a quiet hotel bar...we were there meeting up to go out for a friend's b day party and a friend of this dude's friend proceeds (and he's sober by the way) to go up to Major Applewhite's parents and tell them how much he sucked and how much they sucked because he sucked.
Applewhite's dad turned beet red but he let it go and we chewed the dude's arse and left him behind...I mean classless.
I don't know a ton of players' parents but 99% of them are cool folks who are there to see their kids play well/hard/safe. Why accost them to vicariously taunt their kids playing a game?
Curly06
09-27-2007, 12:02 PM
yea thats what starts most problems- you can clearly tell some are parents (wearing jerseys) then you proceed to say name of child sucks etc- its just uncalled for. ive only seen that behavior at tech & miami
