My son has saved up enough money and wants an xbox 360.:gig: I agreed to buy him Halo 3 if he saved enough for the 360. Which package is the best value to get? I am not current on this like I should be. I tried the search function, put they are just too many xbox threads. Any help is appreciated and rep will be given for your trouble.

I'd buy him a porno instead. He'll still be using his hands, but it will be a lot cheaper and keep him entertained longer. ;)

That is free and he doesn't need his dad's help to rub one out.
Halo 3: Cheapest is best. Standard Edition. Everything one cent more then the cheapest package are ways to get more money out of the willing fan boy's pockets. Ultimately everyone is getting the same game.

Jag - I should have been more clear. I meant to ask which package of the xbox 360 should I buy. He doesnt have halo 3 or the xbox. I agree that just the standard game is all he needs.
Pflug - Maybe in a few years, but right now he is only 8.

I would buy the premium. It has a hard drive and wireless controllers. The controllers are absolutely worth the money and if he will want to save his game content. If he is big in online gaming you may want to upgrade the HD or buy the elite.

Does it have 2 wireless controllers or just 1?
aggie1997

They also have a Halo 3 special edition xbox360 that comes with the game and a 20gb HD. I believe this is the same as the premium. The difference in the elite is a 120gb HD.

No, they usually come with one wireless controller and you have to buy the second, third, or fourth one.

Best choice overall IMO... Standard is nice but the HDMI port is worth the upgrade to me.

his post made it sound like he already had decided on the 360 an was looking for which version of the game to buy.
as for the console id personally get the premium model (if you do make sure it has an hdmi port because thats the newest version and has all the upgrades so it doesnt break on you). the premium does as well but i personally dont like the black 360 because a few of the accessories dont have black versions (the hd-dvd and wireless headset mainly but also the chatpad is yet to get a black makeover). its not a huge deal but my fiend has an elite and hd-dvd drive and it just looks bad in his entertainment setup. either way be sure to not get the core model (thats the only one you really dont want).
that said i did spring for the 120 gig drive upgrade (they are fairly cheap on ebay). i would recommend the 120 gig drive. there is tons of stuff to download on xbox live marketplace.

there was an article on yahoo front page last night that said "the limited edition packaging scratches the game"
i'd make sure not to get that one :undecided:

I don't own either system; I just know that there are a lot of XBOX360 fanboys on here. Talking good about PS3 in front of XBOX fanboys is like talking great about Israel in Syria.

Tell him we said Congratulations.
Hope no one gets offended that I said "we". If so, then I wasn't including you anyway.
Sad that you have to put this type of disclaimer on here.

White,
Thanks! It was very hard as he had exactly 4 of his very close friend's parents do exactly that. All within about a month of each other. One even kicked in a 32" Samsung flat panel.:bored:
It was hard on him, but he understood. I am proud that he stuck with it and saved the money. :gig:

my brother does the same thing with his 8 year old daughter...
she does all sorts of "work" around the house & yard to buy the "luxury" things that she wants...they give her a nice Xmas & Birthday...and all else (other than clothes, of course) are on her own...
I wish more parents did this...would maybe teach kids about fiscal responsibility...& this country wouldn't be in debt up to our arses!
