Anyone think Fran out coaches himself like Coach Klein on the Waterboy?
Ok... here's the play.... The QB takes the snap.... he fakes to the RB..... No wait.... he thinks about faking to the RB.........

Wouldn't A&M have had to be an 11-1 team in RC's last year for us to be San Diego?

Meant it this way Pum, Norv Turner equals coach with butt load of talent on the bench and not knowing how to use them, apparently. Fran equals same exact thing, IMHO.;) Or do you disagree that we have a lot of talent at A&M?

I think we have a ton of talent.... The best talent in the Nation.... Not so much..... but I think we are right there with tu & NU..... OU is obviously the most talented school in the Big XII, but I don't think A&M is 2nd to any other team in the conference....
Then again when you look at the rest of the conference & how they are playing... that's not really a good thing....

Okay, let me ask more questions, how do you think our talent stacks up against Miami? and given your answer would you expect what you saw on Thursday to take place? I

Nothing against other folks on here, but I think I know Miami pretty well..... I've watched 90% of their games since 2000 because my friends normally watch their games at my house every Saturday... been that way since 2000...
Having said that.... A&M's Talent Level is EVEN with Miami.... SLightly better in some areas that should have given A&M the advantage to win... but overall it's EVEN.
Miami is faster, but far from stronger. Miami's defense is also more experienced....
But talent wise from top to bottom.... It's even....
From all my friend who come over & from the teams I watch with them & getting their insight... I'd say A&M is even in talent with FSU, Miami, UCLA, tu & Michigan..... A&M does not have the same talent level of OU, LSU or Florida.....

Okay, that is fair assessement, so then the talent is equal. Now having said that and pointing out the obvious, the scoreboard wasn't anywhere near equal, in fact I think you'd probably agree that is looks better than it was, since we got a late TD in garbage time. So, talent is equal, we are playing at their house, so spot them a TD, but yet the outcome is so scewed one way, it is hard to argue that Fran=not know how to use his talent. Still disagree? speaking of talent and how it equates, how would you assess our talent in comparison to say Fresno State?

Um... not sure where I have disagreed about Fran after the Miami game....
(see posts calling for USF coach)
Up until the Miami game I could understand most decisions, but giving Lane the ball only 2 times, when everyone knew that Lane was the key to winning.... that broke the camel's back....

Maryland, i see where you're going, but at the same time, you can't use one game vs this team as a true temperature/indicator. For it to be a good sample, you need multiple games where the exact scenario is the same to find a trend.
They could play 100 times and maybe we won 60...but just happened to lose the first one like we did...
I love making up "what if" scenarios. :)

isn't that exactly what fran and co. said it was before the game? the entire summer and first part of the season weren't they saying how this game would show where we were? seem to remember that.

I also see where you are coming from Vly, and believe me I know about sample size;) , I'm not basing this on one game, the thing is that for me it is a cumulative 5 year body of work, with the same trends repeating, chief among these is misuse of personnel and bad playing calling as it pertains to certain game time situations. As a scientist, if I see a trend repeating over and over again, particularly over an extended period of time, a light bulb starts to go off in my head. I'm no fool and I understand sometimes comparisons and extrapolations are made with less than ideal controls for comparison but you do the best you can. For me personally, I've seen enough over the course of time to convince me that I have zero confidence in this coaching staff, I believe I've given this coaching staff far more than the benefit of the doubt over time and I continue to see the same trends so I draw what I think are reasonable conclusions that are based on the body of work observed over several season. For the record, yes I realize his first few years the talent gap was not even with some of the competition. In fact the same arguement that I have seen repeatedly, that "it is only one game" makes me chuckle, really it's only one game? Since we are talking comparison here and sample sizes, and if this situation occured 100 times, this would be the probable result, what are we to do with the previous 4 years, just exclude them as outliers, out of the bell shaped curve? more than two standard deviations away from the mean?;)
Pum, I know where you stand on the coach, and truthfully that speaks volumes of where the program is as I considered you one of the most staunch suppporters of this staff. I was not questioning that and I simply went through the dialogue above to support my post about Fran=Turner and you stating that we would have had to have an 11-1 season prior to this year to make that statement.
