I am staking my internet name to it! :D

I really do believe that our defense and depth are now so much better prepared for the rigors of the BigXII and we catch Oklahoma on an extremely down year and Texas....let's just beat the snot out of them.

As much as I believe it is a possibility, I think we most likely will lose to OU and t.u.. But if we do lose, I dont think it will be by more than a T.D. to either of them. They will both be very close, win or lose in my opinion.

I could see us being 13-0 and winning the Big 12 and the MNC, but I can also see us going 5-6 or 6-5, because of a crucial road schedule, Potential injuries to Star offensive player,(Reggie), and injuries and lack of sufficient depth on both sides of the ball.

Most likely though I see us going 9-2 or 10-1 our only loss/losses being to OU or t.u.

Even if OU is in a down year that just means they won't be competeing for the MNC. They should still be in the hunt, or a top 3 spot, for the Big 12 title.

t.u. has lots of talent and expierience, but if there were an injury to Young, game over and we beat the HELL OUTTA t.u.!!!

That's funny, we need to keep this thread so we can repost it when we win. Apparently, according to some, the Ags won't win more than 2 games on the road.

They're also making fun that we are saying we'll have a good season (no mention of MNC on this site although they all say we are predicting it now), but yet, Texas fans are always saying this is our year, this is our year...and yet, they still don't have a Big XII Championship.

Last thing, where's the logic behind this argument (from Hornfans):
You ain't gonna win in Lubbock. Aggy hasn't won in Lubbock in well over a decade. You'll be 8-3 at best.

Using that logic, Oklahoma will always beat Texas because Texas hasn't won in this century. I mean, come on, if last season happens exactly the same as the season before, why do they even play. Give me a reason why we won't beat them in Lubbock. At least his overall prediction fits in line with a lot of what we think (except I think it's 9-2)

First off I think A&M will win it all every year. But on the other hand i can see this happining. A&M will win in Lubbock but lose in Norman against Oklahoma. They beat tu at home this year and end up with one loss in the big 12. they will be tied with tu but since A&M beat tu they will go to the big 12 championship. They will win that and play in a BCS bowl. All n all a goo season for aggie football.

little optimistic......

considering tamu has lost in lubbock the last 5 times....they have been ranked 5, 8, 12 and 24.... pretty sure those squads also wrote in an automatic W....you should read some of your other aggie posts they arent so optimistic about travelling to the hole

AggieWill
06-14-2005, 05:40 PM
considering tamu has lost in lubbock the last 5 times....

Who cares about those last 5 times?

I, nor anyone on the team, cares about them.

Better team and better players.

I honestly think we take Tech as Texas did last year.

Vlyrock
06-14-2005, 06:18 PM
Agreed, who cares about the last 5 times?

Tell me OU will win just because they've won 5 in a row. I'd say, bullcrap, Texas will give them a game this year (and possibly win). Each year, it's a different squad and different team. Just because you won last year, doesn't mean you'll win this year (ex. Baylor and the last 20 years).

We won't overlook Tech...and I honestly think that a lot of Tech fans have the A&M game penciled in as a W...so I'd advise not making the same mistake you're warning us about.

redraider217
06-14-2005, 08:44 PM
i definatly have NOT got a W penciled in. in fact i have a star beside that game because i think it will be a great one. .... but you talk about how good tamu is now compared to before....well tech is that much better too... i have watched this team go from a crappy little team that got the lucky upset over #5 and #8 tamu but this year tech will possibly be better than ever. our D will be the best in 5 years ( we did have a decent D at one point lol) look, you guys gotta understand that you dont have to convince me tamu is good. I KNOW THAT believe me. and yes i believe tamu has an OUTSIDE shot of the big 12 title. nothings impossible and i am aware that frans teams always have broken out the 3rd year. but that stat is just as irrevelant as tech winning the last 5 in lubbock right? the only thing i am saying is dont count your chickens....one of you referred to the texas game and yeah the kicked the crap out of us and the gave us all new names. I am about as devoted a tech fan you will ever find.... i live and breathe tech football. that being said i will also say that i have great respect for tamu and i am well aware that tech is the #3 school in texas. none of us will argue that with you. tamu is a damn fine school with alot of rich history i dont need to elaborate on. the gist of this post and my interrupting you guys is just to say, hey.... tech is here were growing to a solid
#3 in texas and we shouldnt be overlooked. thats all.

WHY?

I haven’t heard one person say why you think your going to win other then, “this is our year!”. What’s so special about this year? Considering how much you lost on the O-line I think you are in worst shape then last year. Your line couldn’t runblock against a strong wind last year and now you have a bunch of Sophomores. Your even more one sided then before. You still have Reggie McNeal, and some bright upper-class receivers, but that just means your even more one sided then last year.

The “wrecking crew” is not much better off. The Linebackers still look good as always, but that’s it!. Your D-line is nothing and I think you have a pair of freshmen playing cornerback.

Sorry Aggies I don’t see you guys getting your names back on your jerseys any time soon.

That’s just my opinion though, good luck on T+1. I will be there with my Aggie girlfriend who would tell me why I’m dead wrong and I don’t know *#$% about football if she read this post.

HOOK’EM

Vlyrock
06-20-2005, 12:04 PM
Ok, here's my reasoning for thinking we'll win:

The O-line is a question mark, it has been and will be until I see differently. I'm banking on the fact that we'll have a whole season to gel. Our pre-season schedule gives us games to get it together (except Clemson which will be a catfight (no pun intended)). ;)

I think the O-line appeared worse than it was because C. Lewis just had an awful year last year. He was hurt for the most part and was not a threat at all. I believe he's healthy this year and he'll be much better.

We still have Reggie. He does a lot for our team and makes something when there's nothing...our receivers are good and helped by the fact that Jason Carter will be eligible (also helps special teams).

Our Front 7 are stronger than they were last year. We had freshman that now have a whole season under their belts...they've improved in strength and conditioning and should be ready to disrupt a lot of backfields. Our secondary is a question, but it's no different from last year. They're led by the hard hitting Appel and all we need them to do is play smart and be in the right places at the right at times (i.e. read the plays and don't get burned) :D

When it comes to T+1, it helps that the game is at Kyle. Home-Field Advantage is huge for us. Derrick Johnson is missing on the defensive side. A lot of Horns won't admit that it makes a big difference, but this guy was your defense last year. He was fast and disrupted a lot of plays. On the other side of the ball, your WR's are probably improved over last year, but that's not saying much because they were almost non-existent last year (unreliable at best). Benson is missing in the backfield, and although you have good replacements in S. Young and Taylor, they may not equal up to the threat Benson was.

There are a lot of question marks for both teams in the game, but nothing stands out that would give Ags a reason to believe that this can't be our year. We overachieved last year with underclassmen and so we're banking this year should be better (plus the schedule is easier in terms of home/away games).

Corporal Longhorn
06-20-2005, 12:23 PM
Fair enough, those are all good points. I would still be very woried about your O-line because that’s where it all starts. With out the big uglys up front your screwed.. You still do not have any kind of rushing attack. If you come out like last year and don’t attempt to run for the entire second half then we can pin our ears back and rush you all day.

As for our offense we do have two big question marks. Will V. Young polish his passing game this year and will our two new Halfbacks even come close to filling Cedrics shoes. Both of them are Small speedsters so were going to have a different kind of running attack but it will be behind the same line that put up the most rushing yards last year. In Scott has been named a Preseason All American and will probably go in the first round.

On the other side of the ball, it is true that we are missing Thomas, but we are returning all but two of last years team. Two of our front seven are also potential first rounders. I am not worried about the D.

If Vince stays healthy and our receivers can hold on to the ball (big if) then this is our year.

You guys should beat Tech though, I hope you beat OU (because OU Sucks!) and I have to admit Inver like going to Kyle (you guys are crazy).

TEXAS FIGHT!

Now Coporal Longhorn is my kind of poster, giving his strong opinion and why he believes so. Excellent. I don't necessarily think we will win but I think it could happen here is my rationale. This year three in Fran system and no matter how much that is discounted it counts for something, the players should be used to the system and there should be no surprises. On the defensive side of the ball I will disagree with you on the D-line, this is by far our strongest area with quality players and depth, so I think the D-line this year will be able to generate more pressure on the QB. Our LB are good but not great, J Warren has the potential to be a star, and I think this will be his year. I think some of the freshman will have an impact, I think M. Featherston has the potential to make some noice and might not be redshirted due to lack of depth. Our CB are a ??, but I believe if your D line get pressure it eases the CB job and I believe this will happen, so on the D side, I think we are markedly improved from last year. Offensively, Reggie has the experience and he should have a better year. The key to Reggie is if he has run support and I think this year he will have support. Whereas last year it was C. Lewis or bust, this year there are a lot more options, B. Leone. S. Taylor, Lucas, and maybe even J. Lane, so I think the running game is going to be better, much better in fact, and this will directly improve Reggies game. Our WR are stellar and we are loaded and there are several that could be stars. Our O line, I will have to agree with Vly on that one, they still have to prove they are decent. Overall I think we see a big difference on both sides of the ball and that is why we have a chance. Also, the easier schedule will make a difference in confidence level, similar to what happened to us in basketball this year. Let me say this again, I really liked your post and hope more are on the way. I have zero problem with a horn telling me your aren't going to win and I think you are nuts for thinking you will win, as long as you explain to me why it is you think I'm wrong, and then give me a chance to explain my side of the story. Since you have an Aggie girlfriend you are obviously a smart sip :D , sorry Corporal Longhorn , couldn't resist, all in jest though. :p

Corporal Longhorn

Its the same on all these fan sights. No one ever really talks about the game. Its just this blind devotion to their team and talking trash about the other guy.
I look for the occasional post about the actual X’s and O’s. I want to know what to know what people think about there new defense or how they think Adrian Peterson will be able to run between the tackles this year, but every one just wants to talk about how the other guys suck and how their highlight player is God’s gift to football.

I am just going nut looking at dept charts and rosters and hanging on every piece of news about how players developed in the offseason. The closer it gets the more questions I think up. Man I can’t wait for kick off to see how it all unfolds.

I have to admit A&M should be an interesting story. You have a lot of reasons to play hard and redeem your self this year and you have some weapons to do it with.

Oh by the way I don’t even drink Tea.

AggieWill
06-20-2005, 01:32 PM
CL, you going to beat OU this year?

I ask that in honest manner.

MarylandAG
06-20-2005, 01:37 PM
100% agree with that, I love sports for many reasons, but one of the primary reasons is the strategy behind it and the mind games that go on. The X's and O's so to speak. I love discussions around the lines of.......well Vince Young is going to be doing this so the best way to defend him is this......, so on and so forth, really nothing gained by saying you suck and we are better. Of course having said that, there is nothing wrong with some good natured ribbing after the game, to the victor go the spoils right :D , if not it wouldn't be sports. :p

Corporal Longhorn
06-20-2005, 01:46 PM
Man I hope so!
I think we have a good chance better then last year and the year before that. They lost a lot of talent, but I am still worried about Peterson. I don’t think he will be able to run between the tackles very well especially with there O-line, and our front 7. We will be cheating our LB’s out side and bringing our safeties closer to the box. Hopefully their passing game is not as good as last year, but it is OU, I’m sure it is a priority for them to get it back up to snuff.
I like the fact that we have a big game against Ohio before so we can see where we stand.
I guess what I’m trying to say is I think we should finaly get a W in at the State Fair, if they don’t just have our number again. Some times it feels like it just wasn’t meant to be.

MarylandAG
06-20-2005, 01:55 PM
From an unbiased source here is what I think. I think the horns have a damn good chance this year, and I soley base this on one thing. I don't think the QB position at OU will be as good as what it has been in the past. We can make fun of White till the cows come home but the guy just won games, period. I don't think Bomar will be as good, and let me add one thing, YET!. I think Bomar is eventually going to be a great one. So I think defenses will be keying on Peterson, and his productivity will go down. Of course if I'm wrong and the Bomars excels from the get go, then all bets are off. For any sooners out there, does anyone know the depth at QB at OU, its Rhett Bomar and then who?
