After last year I had posted a thread on the similarities between the 06 & 97 team... because of their records & just because of the nature of both seasons....

Just to piggy back that.... History isn't too far off....

98 by many Aggies is considered the best Aggie year aside from the MNC Chip year before all of us were born....

I wonder how many of ya'll would be doing right now if A&M struggled against La Tech, Southern Miss, & North Texas.... :wow:

So what if the Ags didn't put away Fresno State... the Ags are 2-0....

And lookie here... A&M is playing a school from Florida following a 9-4 season.... Hopefully these Ags will do better.... no you know what... they will do better...

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it...

I would have hated to be a fly on the wall around Aggies then... Especially after getting beat by FSU week 1, then barely beating La Tech, S. Miss, & N. Texas.... man the frustration that would have been swirling around must have been unbelievable....

Seeing how we have the same Conference Schedule and while NU was the Top 5 team then, OU will fill that role this time..... Anyone remember how "UNSTOPPABLE" that NU team was supposed to be?

I can see this season duplicating that year, only difference is we have a better team now..... So better results are possible... :gig:

I will say this, so far the '07 season is a mirror image of the '06 season. Lets just hope we find those 6 extra points some where.

So far it's working... At least it's us squeezing by a few points this time. I don't care who we play.

I hope so, but that year we OPENED with the #2 team in the nation from Florida following a 9-4 season.

We "barely beat" La Tech who coincidently had the #2 passing offense in the nation (gained through playing Nebraska) to less than 1/2 their average passing yards. That game isn't similar to any we have played so far.

As far as "barely beating S. Miss lets take a look at a quote from the game recap,

In the biggest home game for USM (0-2) in over a decade, the Aggies seized control early and never gave the Eagles an ounce of hope. A dominating defensive performance, a pair of dazzling runs by Dante Hall and some outstanding individual efforts in the kicking game all played major roles in the A&M win.

Hard to call that game "barely" a win.

North Texas was problematic that year but we pulled it out. Thus having 1 game of the first 4 that we barely pulled out and 1 loss to the #2 team in the country that we had a shot at winning.

I would love to agree with the similarities you see between the teams but the only ones I can agree with are; same conference schedule, 1 top 5 team that appears unstoppable (although that year we played them at Kyle)............. and that is all.
