I know he has a lot of faith in Matt but if you have a weapon like Jorvorskie... go for it darn it!!!

Chill out folks.... it's 19-0 & A&M is up... Fresno really isn't doing anything at all & there is no reason to press right now....

Would you rather the FG team (Matt) get his work in now & the O'Line mess up on a FG protection in the middle of a 19-0 lead at 1/2 of in crunch time against NU, Miami, tu, OU or some team A&M is gonna need their "A" game against?

Seriously... if the Ags are gonna make lil mistakes like this, try things out... don't you think it's better to do it now instead of when it counts???

Ya'll make me laugh the way ya'll start melting down...

Superaggie79

It's not melting down it's wanting to put the game away early so that our young guys can get in there. And it's the fact that history is repeating itself on his decisions so how should that give us any faith in future situations?

Being up 19-0... and reading the body language of Fresno State... they are tired & dejected....

They are having trouble holding onto the ball & having trouble wrapping up & blocking...

So long as A&M keeps doing what they are doing (pretty or not) A&M will win this game with little trouble the rest of the way...

See when they are doing this is when you stomp on their throat until they quit breathing. I'm not doubting that we'll win or anything but it's not putting the nail in the coffin as early as possible. And with this style of defense that is always scary.

The way I see games like this where A&M by far has the better talent, it's not about play calling, it's about execution....

Against tu, OU, Miami, ttu, & NU... that's when play calling comes into play...

these games are for execution & Matt, WR's & O'Line are bringing in the rear in that department.. the LB's, D'Line, 2ndary, RB's, LOD, & McGee are doing alright...

I had to cut out early from Kyle (g/f was badly overheating) but the complaints about the gutless decisions were loud in the Zone.

You're a genius Super Aggie....feel better? But here's a scenario -- Lane gets stuffed, we don't get the field goal, the rest of the game plays out the way it did and we don't get an overtime or a chance to win because we're missing those 3 points.

Or, we go for it and the outcome changes. We may win, we may not -- but now Szymanski doesn't have the confidence or knowledge that Fran and the team believe in him and he misses a crucial kick.

Did you notice that Szymanski didn't miss a single kick after that decision? Maybe he got a positive message from Fran and the team and rose to the challenge....

The fact that fans are booing the coaches and players at Kyle Field is absolutely disgusting. That makes me more pissed than anything that happens on the field. You don't boo your team when you're winning....that's just stupid. Every point matters and that was proven today.

So are you saying that Szymanski has fragile feelings? By kicking it instead of J Lane running it, aren't we telling Lane the same thing that you are suggesting we would be telling Szymanski in your "what if" scenerio?

I agree that the fans should not be booing anybody. And I would not classify Fran's/or whoever was playcalling's decisions as "gutless". I would however question why when our line weight average outweighed theirs by about 40 lbs, and considering J Lane's size, why we did not feel confident in gaining 1 yd. for a first down on several occasions.

That...is same song, second verse. Only the song is playcalling, and the verse is still being sung as badly as ever with regards to the coach showing confidence in the team.

I'm suggesting that you can get in a kickers head (hence the "freezing" time-outs, etc). No, we're not telling J Train we don't believe in him, but at the same time, I think Fresno State proved that when they knew we were running it they had the option well defended (for the most part). We had more than 5 running plays go for no gain or loss of yards...

Interesting......

HEAD COACH PAT HILL:
(on A&M’s Jorvorskie Lane) “He’s a tough guy. When they went to pound the big guy on us, I knew we were in trouble.”

How often have you seen a kicker get "frozen" and based on the odds say we had 6 plays that were no gain or a loss. That's 6 out of 63. Szymanski hit 3 for 5. The odds are more in favor of a positive play on the ground. Also you can't assume that a game will play out the same way as you said in a previous post because your decision effects field possession, time of possession, and a myriad of other factors. And you remember last year when Fran refused to give the ball to Lane in a short and goal situation? Lane seemed to take that pretty personally so there was every chance in the world that it could've had a negative effect on him as well. We're just lucky that the football gods were smiling on us today.

"Bump"

Yes, we need to develop a "killer" instinct. Much of what was said about FS in the 1st half could be said about us in the 2nd. The game lasts 60 minutes.

Anyone who doesn't believe kickers can be rattled.. I hoped you watched the Auburn/USF game last night.....

Lets not forget that Matt is barely 19.... He's not a pro & not even a leader on this team....

He gets a hand full of chances to prove himeself & that's it....

Making excuses for him is not the correct answer.

The QUESTIONS that should be answered is, is when is Symanski's backup going into the game? Who the hell is his backup anyway???????

He left 6 on the field. That would have meant the game would have ended at 60 mins.

Just pointing out the obvious here. Let the thrashing begin.

Pumchavas28

No thrashing needed.... but not every kicker is money.... especially when the blockers dont do their job....

Vlyrock
09-09-2007, 12:02 PM
Yeah, but let's not forget that the referees "iced" him once by setting the ball up on the wrong hash. He was lined up to kick it and then they moved it to the other hash (the one that was blocked).

Really though Greg, bench Szymanski because he missed 2 field goals? seems kind of harsh and unjustified. McGee fumbled and gave up 6 points....guess we should put in his backup too, huh? Without that, the game would've ended at 60 minutes.

A FG kicker has one job, unlike a QB who is brought in to be multi-faceted(sp)

Exactly who else is going to kick FGs? This isn't the NFL there isn't a waiver wire.

wow...one loss & we get to see who the real idiots are...oh wait...we won...:bored: :stupid:

bench a kicker? maybe J-Train can kick /loftin...

so...by what margin do we have to win by to have "no complaints"...:spy:
I agree there is area for improvement...there ALWAYS is...
the same people who are complaining about the coach are probably the same ones who "predicted" 4 or so losses this year...so wouldn't you say, our team is playing to your expectations...???

I'm f'n tired of fans trashing OUR team, players, & coaches after a hard fought gut checking win...

I find it similar to soldiers/generals doing their job, and coming back to people spitting on them...

an important caveat to my comment is that there is ALWAYS room for improvement (even after blowout wins)...and that is where the coaches & players will look at the tape & make decisions adjustments...

Perhaps the adversity of this battle and the struggles faced (and overcome with a W) early in the season is actually a blessing. An easy game would undoubtedly have given both the players and coaches an unrealistic sense of security.

I think we need to keep things in perspective and put the best construction on things. There was likely a very good reason things happened as they did yesterday and that all will learn and grow from it. :)

Bigger worries for this season to be sure.

The attitude above is the problem...stand on their throat until the final horn sounds!
