thought this was pretty funny from $Bill in his weekly wednesday...
Scalpers, Part I
I had an interesting experience that I'm sure some of you have encountered. While heading over to meet some football recruits and their families, I was confronted by a very persistent scalper on Houston Street. You know the kind – a sign with "Need Tickets" in one hand, and a batch of tickets held up high in the other hand.
I suggested to him that he should leave. It would have ended there, until he dropped an F-bomb on me. Then we had a funny conversation. I said, "Leave now, or I'll call the cops."
He said, "Here, I'll call 'em for you...I'll call 9-1-1."
I said OK and held up my staff ID badge and told him, "Tell them my name, and be sure you spell it right." By then I'd dialed some of our staff who sent a police officer over, Mike Ragan, assistant chief of UPD. As soon as the scalper saw him coming, he decided that discretion was the better part of valor.
